City hotel near Termini station.

We were in room 115 in february 2009 for a cultural trip to Rome.

If you can cope with :

* worn out rooms (loosy electric plugs, fungus on the edges of the bathtub and the ceiling , mutiple reparations of the tub emanel, never cleansed air removal appliance, missing lock on the bathroom door,...)
* uninspired breakfast with "fresh" fruit right from the tin can, powder based juice, coffee from a vendor machine, bread that would not pass an independant freshness test
* oudoor and indoor noise from 6 am on
then we suppose you would be at the right address.

A real tourist trap.

It's is nothing more than a place to sleep in Rome (a magnificent city by the way), in a dark street of the station area.

Advantage : many restaurants nearby.

We enjoyed the city but the hotel was literally a cold shower.

This hotel has a great location. I was a single, female traveler and felt safe in this hotel. It was in walking distance of the Coliseum, Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, lots of Piazzas. The hotel was clean and I didn't have any trouble with the water heating up. (I read a few reviews where guests listed that problem) The staff spoke fluent English and were very accommodating. There is a great restaurant/bar on the corner near the hotel. The staff there was very friendly.

One issue I had was the climate control of heat and air. This problem wasn't bad enough for me not to stay here again. As I said, greatest thing is location!

The hotel is located just a few minutes from Termini station. You dont have to take a taxi, find a map and you´ll find it.
Its located on a quiet side street amongs alot of other hotels and a few restaurants.
The room was big, bed was comfortable, bathroom was nice and clean. The minibar was not cold but ok.
We stayed on the 5 th floor with a view down the street wich was ok. The breakfast buffe was not the greatest, had no eggs and coffe was awful. Staff was polite.
San remo is located close to all the major attractions like colosseum, The roman forum, Pantheon ect.
Id stay here again.

The best things about this hotel is it's central location to everything that is required i.e. Trains; Metro; buses 5 minute walk along with easy walking distances to any of the main attractions that you want to see in Rome. Connection from the airport to Rome central terminal is 11 euro and takes approx 35 mins if your a single or couple. Taxi's journeys can take up to 2 hours depending on traffic within Rome which was very busy.
The hotel reception is small but the staff are friendly and very helpful and will advice you on the easiest way to get to your location; alougth a good map of the area is recommended (which can be obtained from the counter on reception).
For a grade 3, it's rated about right, as the bathroom and shower were a little worn and in some cases you had to let the hot water run for 5 minutes before it came hot' once hot it was hot :-) The rooms; located over 6 floors; were of a good size and in general clean and tidy. All floors were accessible via a lift, although the lift was small. It also has wheel chair access too which is unusual.
Note: Try and get a room on the upper floor levels as it can be quite noisey outside in the streets adjoining the hotel.
The breakfast was adequate; self service and continental; but the seating arrangement and area was small. Thus you could find yourself waiting if you were late. The bar prices were also good if you wanted to drink inside the hotel, albeit there were many places outside to eat and drink. There were no safe deposit box in the room, but these were located downstairs at reception.
Note: There are plenty of eating facilities within Rome catering for primarily Italian food, but for those that also want to eat tradditional foods like Indian/Chineese/Stakes etc then we found these very limited.

  • Liked — Location of hotel; size of room and friendlyness of staff
  • Disliked — Hot water was not instant and could be noisey in ealy morning due to traffic

I stayed at San Remo for a week, in business and for a weekend break.
The room was clean and confortable. The shower had some problems, but it worked...
The worst was the breakfast: the orange juice was not orange and the fruit salad mostly had no fresh fruits.
People on the reception are kind and speak english.
You can also use wireless internet paying 8 Euros per hour (!).
