The Montecarlo Hotel was a nice hotel. It was clean, comfortable, quiet. Generally, the people working the front desk were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly as well. We did not have a car, so I can't speak to parking in the area. They had internet in the lobby which was 1 Euro for 10 minutes.

The location had pros and cons. It was about a 10 minute walk from the Termini train station (with luggage). It was about a 5 minute walk to the subway, which three stops later dropped you off outside of the Colosseum. However, it's a good 20-25 minute walk to popular sights in the historic center. We were about 10 minutes from Villa Borghese. Cabs were easy to find and relatively inexpensive to get back to the hotel at night. We generally felt safe in the neighborhood, although, it was not as charming as in other parts of the city.

If you're looking to save some money and don't mind walking, I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel during our four night stay in Rome and were very pleased. The front desk staff couldn't have been nicer, and were happy to offer assistance as we needed it. Our room was comfortable and always clean. The hotel was in a great location away from the noise of the city, but close enough to get everywhere. Great choice for us!

The Hotel exceeded our expectations, the rooms are small, but very clean and well kept. The breakfast is good. The out of the way service is what I will remember most. A group of 8 of us, and we had to leave early for a tour, before breakfast was served. They had Cappucino's for all of us as well as fresh croissants. They were always ready to assist with any needs at any time of day.

THe location was also very convenient, close to the Termini, the Metro, walking distance to many attractions.

Stayed at the Montecarlo in July. Within easy walking distance of the Termini station. Lots of restaurants nearby. Walked to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain no problem. Bus stop a short distance away as well as the metro stop. All in all great location easy to get to major sites. Adequate breakfast, though could get tiring if staying for more than a few days. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and spacious, AC worked great! Would definitely stay here again.
