What we really enjoyed:

- Mr Franco Spaccialbelli at the reception desk! What a great guy, totally service-minded.

- The beautifully decorated room. Very cosy.

- The proximity to Termini station.

- The excellent restaurants in the neighbourhood. Especially Mama Angela's and the Steakhouse around the corner.

What we didn't enjoy:

- The breakfast that was more like a cake buffet without healthy alternatives. A diabetic would have problems finding something to eat without too much sugar.

- The beds that were pretty hard and uncomfortable.

- The hydro-massage shower that sometimes inflicted more pain than pleasure...

To summarize: a good hotel for the price and Mr Franco Spaccialbelli really made our day. I guess we were extremely lucky with timing as well since we spent 14-16 Dec in Rome and there were almost no tourists anywhere. We had been warned about the long queues and therefore paid extra to pre-book tickets to the Vatican but it turned out to be completely unnecessary since there was no queue at all! We could walk right through. The same applied for Colosseum. Maybe some people who heard about the recent flooding of the Tiber canceled in the last minute. Anyway, a great trip for us!

On the first night we got lost trying to find it, once we got our bearings, it was a very easy walk to the Termini. On one corner there are embassies and Armed Guards with automatic weapons all night, so walking home we felt very safe.
The room was decent and heated perfectly, the mattress was a bit hard but did it's job. Alessandro was very helpful even at 4am when we woke up asking for a Internet Key :).

This hotel I recommend to everyone staying in Rome for a couple of days. The staff is friendly, the hotel modern, clean en quiet. The breakfast was more than sufficient with enough choice and good service. The beds were good.
We had a superior twin room, with jacuzzi bath, high speed internet and lcd tv. The dvd mentioned on the site was missing, but at our request, they installed it the next day. We had on departure day a huge delay at Ciampino airport and the next flight would be after two days or we would be standby for a flight that same night. I phoned the hotel if in case we couldn't fly that night, we could stay at the hotel again. They answered they would have a room for us and we didn't need to worry at all. Fortunately, we flew that night home.
I am very satisfied about this hotel. Its is easily to reach from Termini station.

We arrived at the hotel mid morning and was pleasantly suprised, it was located in a nice area (near Embassies) and not in any way run down. The walk from Termini station took us just over 5 mins, the pavement did not cause us any problems whatsoever and was easy to find following the directions from the hotel website.

I had emailed the hotel prior to arriving with a couple of questions and they were very quick with their response, which was good...

The room was ready when we checked in at 11am which was handy being there for only three full days!!

The room was very clean and decorated in a beautiful way. I am fussy when it comes to the room and cleanliness and this got 10 out of 10 for it all. It was perfect for a place to sleep when visiting this beautiul city for a long weekend!!

The bathroom was also very clean and they supplied you with toilettries along with fresh towels every day.

The location of the hotel was great for the money that we paid for the hotel. It was a 5min walk from Termini where you can catch trains/buses/metro from to explore the whole city. We opted to buy a Hop on Hop off tourist bus ticket rather than using the normal buses as we had no idea where they went to and how to pay to use them!!! The sight seeing tour buses suited us fine and we got to see all of the sites that we set out to during the three day break.

I highly reccomend that you visit the Vatican and Colusseum and that you pre book tickets beforehand to enable you to jump the queue. The queues were so long it would have put me off going to visit them, but well worth paying the little bit extra to guarantee a place there...

There was a fantastic restaurant that we ate out in that was oposite the Pantheon. If you are stood with your back to the entrance, there are a number of cafe/restaurants in the square oposite. It was the second one on the left (I can't remember the name now!) and the food was out of this world! It cost 12 euros for a pizza or pasta disa, plus a wine/beer/juice and then a coffee to finish. It was the tastiest meal I had during my visit there. We also ate in Piazza Navona, and it cost us a small fortune for a very small portion! My boyfriend had to eat again 1/2 hr later!!

You must throw a coin in Trevi Fountain for your return to the city and you also need to sample the Galeta ice creams that are found on many corners throughout the city, they are out of this world!

Considering it was November when we visited, it was still very busy in restaurants and most of the attractions, so I would dread to think what it would be like in the height of Summer!!

The weather was a bit hit and miss while we were there but it did not stop us from visiting everything we wanted to.

All in all, the hotel was fantastic, very quaint but with modern features. The lift was beautiful and very quiet!! We did not hear anyone in the ajoining rooms nor did we get disturbed by anyone in the corridors. Infact it was the best sleep that the pair of us have had in a long while!!

The TV had a couple of english channels on and there was a minibar in the room too. We kept a couple of bottles of drink in there that we bought from the loal supermarket and they did not seem to mind.

As for the Temini area as a whole, I felt extremely safe at all times of the day and night, there is a chinese restaurant between the hotel and the station where we ate one night and the walk back at just after mid night was pleasant!

I will definatley be visiting the city again in the Summer and will definatley without a doubt stay in this lovely hotel again. 10 out of 10 all the way!!!

We stayed at the Hotel Monte Carlo for four nights in October, 2008. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there again. This was our second visit to Rome, so we have another hotel to compare with—but there is no comparison at all. The hotel location is excellent: just about 8 blocks or ten minutes walk from Rome Termini. Don’t forget that the closest Metro Station is the Castro Praetoria station, only about 5 minutes away. The rooms were small but clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the shower which had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. Also the air conditioning in the room worked extremely well, as Rome was still enjoying rather warm weather. Tip: if you run the fan on low, you will muffle any sound from adjoining rooms. That said, the hotel was quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was a simple and tasty continental breakfast in a bright room. The coffee was outstanding. The best part of this experience was the hotel staff. They were the FRIENDLIEST, most polite, and helpful staff of any of the European hotels (including some 4 or 5 star) we have stayed at in the past 10 years! That includes everyone from the four gentlemen at the hotel desk, the housekeeper, and the breakfast room ladies. As another person mentioned, FRANCO S was just great and I especially enjoyed talking with him. We had booked an early tour to Pompeii and Franco and his colleague sprang into action and made us cappuccinos and packed croissants for us to take early one morning. Much appreciated. KARINA (sp) in the breakfast room was also wonderful: she looked after us and kept those coffee cups full of café latte and cappuccino. It is such a pleasure to see smiling, kind faces. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel, clean comfortable rooms, excellent location, and the friendliest staff—this is the hotel for you.
