This hotel has nice large and very quiet(!) rooms, with excellent bathrooms.
The roof terrace is great and has a very nice view.
Very nice to have access to well equiped fitness & sauna.
Easy access to public transport to downtown Rome.
Around the corner (Corso Trieste) is a very nice Trattoria Pizzeria "La Chiacchiera";
we can recommend that!
After a daystrip in beautiful but usy Rome, it is a relief to come back to the nice Hotel Mercure Corso Trieste.

Location is far away from the heart of Rome. You need a good bus ride of 15-20 minutes to get to Piazza Venezia and from there a good deal of walking. If you want to stay late in town you will either take the night bus N4 or be prepared for a cab ride of 10-15€. Not all taxi drivers know the location. You find a similar priced room situated better than this one. I did enjoy the commute so it was no biggy for me. Plus, the residential area is nice. A few nice places to eat around the hotel or within a 15-20minutes walk.

Staff is not very friendly. Rooms are below average. On Sunday morning there was hard core house keeping activities right outside the room at around 9AM.

I had read the reviews on this hotel so thought I knew what I was getting and this turned out to be the case.. The hotel is a bit far out but after walking to the metro about 20 minutes away, it is only a 5 minute ride to Termini where you can pick up buses, trams and tour buses. On the other hand turn right out of the hotel and 5 minutes takes you to a bus route with buses going to Termini. The hotel was spotlessly clean, our room was excellent and had a balcony which we had not expected. The room was completely soundproofed so we had the best night's sleep we had had in years. The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. There are several bars and restaurants in the vicinity, though a bit difficult to find, but we just asked at reception and they kept us right. It was our first trip to Rome and I was pleased I had pre-booked transport direct from the airport as the hotel would be difficult to find if you didn't know your way about. Our transfer was £72 return which we thought was OK and worth the bit extra. I will certainly return to Rome and would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

Value for money and walking distance to a subway. Location is in a residential neigbourhood, quiet and a few eateries nearby. Hotel services are fine but not overly helpful or friendly. No free internet access.

The Mercure Corso Trieste is for me an ideal Rome hotel. The price fluctuates depending on demand but is usually very competitive. It is just outside the centre but only a few stops on a fast bus or 10-15€ by taxi. The hotel is very clean with a smart bar serving snacks and has a buffet breakfast room in the basement but if you are in a hurry use one of the man bars nearby for an authentic Italian breakfast. The bedrooms are standard Mercure with all that you need - safe box, bath not just shower (good to soak after a long day in the city), spotless clean linen. The street on which the hotel stands has almost no through traffic and is very quiet despite being close to many restaurants and good shopping streets. Try it - you wont be disappointed.
