When I booked this hotel, I read reviews saying that it was a bit far from the center. I need to clarify that it IS far from the center, and not just a bit. I admit, I should've checked the map before booking. My husband and I can walk long distances (and truth be said, the walk to the nearest metro is not even that long) but having a 21 month old baby with you just makes it challenging. Especially when you consider the lack of escalators/lifts at the metro stations to accommodate commuters with strollers. Bottomline: If you enjoy the luxury of going back to your hotel mid-day to relax or freshen up before hitting the sights again, this is not the right hotel for you. On the other hand, if you like to stay in a hotel away from tourists, then this could work for you.The rooms are not that spacious but clean. I always like it when they have a mini-bar fridge. Basic necessities are provided except for lotion. I forgot mine and was a bit annoyed that they didn't have any. Breakfast wasn't exciting and the hotel lobby looks bare and lacks that cozy feeling.

The hotel itself was very good, although high priced. The drawback was that it took about 25 minutes to get to city center because we had to walk 15 minutes to the metro, then take the metro a few stops to the center. Also, for the price charge, I expected a better breakfast.

I had read all of the reviews I could find on the hotel before we traveled, so I had a little concern when we checked in. As soon as we got there the concern disappeared. The hotel is most pleasant, clean and located in a very quiet neighborhood. The staff was most helpful. Once you understand the bus and metro system getting to and from anywhere in Rome or the surrounding areas is a cinch. (you can familiarise yourself on line) Bed was really comfortable, bathroom large, hotel quiet. One tip, before we flew in we hired a car through Roma Shuttle, Driver met us loaded the bags, and delivered two tired campers for 40 euro, The also take credit cards in the car. One other important tip, use ATM machines rather than currency converters, that is unless you like throwing money away. There was a slight fee from my bank, but nothing like the money changers..

Choose this hotel if you get a good price and don't mind a bit of travelling to and from the centre.. The connections are good enough as you have a few buses going directly to the termini station. The bus stop is around 200-250m walk. The express bus would take 10min while non express would take 20min. We did not try the taxi as it would be expensive sing it all the time.. With the Roma pass the buses are free anyway!

We went over easter and this hotel gave a good price as compared to others. Obviously it carries the Mercure name.. so it has to be good and it was good in all other aspects... quite, good spacious rooms, courteous staff.. good breakfast...

  • Liked — Everything is good.. just slightly off the centre..
  • Disliked — Its good.. but the location is not the centre
