“Nice and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013 via mobile

After fruitless searching the web for suitable decent accommodation for 4 nights during a peak in school holidays and public holidays, I asked the receptionist in the Mercure where we were staying in Bologna, to see what she could do, and we managed to get just 2 nights at the Corso Trieste.

The instructions for getting a bus to the hotel from the Rome railway station were straightforward and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised at being in a nice residential neighbourhood. We travel light so wheeling our cabin size trolleys the 400 metres was no trouble, but we are glad we bought a Rome map first whilst at the railway station.

We were able to get another two nights, but at €138 for weeknights and €120 for the weekend is much higher than that stated on the tripadvisor website.

The rooms are standard Mercure but with the added touch of tea making facilities in the room. The air con is very good, and the windows open for fresh air.

We have eaten at one of the pizza places just down the road near where we catch the bus into town and we will go back to it again as it was so good.

The bus trips are a lot of fun, being with the locals going into work.
A new metro stop has been opened up near the bus stop and the are good little bakeries and fruit carts all clustered around the other eateries so we were able to get everything we needed.
All in all our luck in getting this quiet oasis so close to the centre of Rome has been fortunate as one really does need to unwind after spending hours each day in the hustle and bustle of what is a most interesting city.

Rome center is full af very expensive and small cheap hotels. It took me some time to discover this beautiful hotel very close to the city center in a lovely Art Deco neighborhood. Excellent service from arrival to departure! Breakfast was also tasty and rich with all kinds of food, vegetables and sweets. The center of the city - as well as the Termini and the Airport - can be easily reached by the Metropolitana, 10 min walking distance from the hotel. Highly recommended!

The hotel location did not meet expectation, had to walk 10 minutes to reach for connectivity or a restaurant. Rooms are smaller but well done.
Staff was friendly and provided guidance on local transportation & sight seeing.
Two rooms provided were on two different sides, which caused inconvenience.

Deat Guest,
thank you for your comments about your stay in our hotel.
I deeply regret that the hotel position did not satisfy your expectation. As well described into our Web site we are located in the Coppedé district - 3,82Km far from city centre - 380m. far from the Metro stop Sant'Agnese/annibaliano.
Regarding the 2 rooms on different floors, at any time this is requested upon reservation, we provide to satisfy any guest's request. upon arrival as well, but this is upon availability.
Should you like to give me further details, I am at your complete disposal.
Thank you for your apositive comments regarding the good Staff quality of service. Your satisfaction is our best compensation.
Looking forward to welcoming you again in our hotel I remain,
Yours faithfully

My wife and I stayed in the Mercure Roma Corso Trieste Hotel whilst visiting Rome. We were checked in by Lucia who was very helpful and gave a lots of information on where to eat, how to get to the Metro etc. The room we were assigned was 618 twin beds as requested, the room was a good size and spotlessly clean. It had a Flat screen TV, Tea/coffee making facilities, free wifi (the only downside was that the codes only lasted 12 hours, which was not always convenient). There is a choice of Continental or American breakfast priced at €6 and €15 respectively. Room service is available in the evening but there is no restaurant on site. There are several restaurants within a 5 to 10 minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Some rooms on 6th floor have a balcony.

The hotel is situated away from the town centre making it quieter and safer. The nearest metro stop is around 5 minutes stroll and there are plenty of buses running nearby. The staff are very knowledgable and curtious and command a good level of English.

Nice hotel, in quiet quarter of Rome close to city center, in walk distance to public transport (metro, bus). Into Vatican, downtown or Colloseum it is possible to get approximately in 30 minutes or less, by underground.
Rooms are well equiped including free wi-fi internet access.
I did not ordered any meals in hotel, as it is a little bit expensive and just 2 minutes of walk from hotel on the way to underground station you can find a snack bar for cheaper breakfast in purely italian style, in the evening there is a restaurant with reasonable prices, delicious food and wide offer of wines as well, close to the hotel. Beside meal a price for parking lot is a pain also, but it is a standard price of this hotel chain.
All staff is very pleasant and helpfull. Next time being in Rome I will surely consider same hotel as best choice for stay.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I spend about 60 nites in a hotel each year in all parts of the world primarily in the 4 star category. After so much travel, my criteria for an ideal hotel is as follows:

1. Clean and comfortable
2. Reasonable location
3. Fast and reliable wifi without additional charge
4. Fair sized room and bathroom
5. Fresh, healthy breakfast either included or at a price that does not break the bank.
6. Above average service with no attitude

When I first arrived in Rome, I had booked at the Delle Muse, and I beat a hasty retreat from there after 1 night. Upon very short notice, I discovered this hotel that turned out to be a gem, and met almost all of my criteria above. And I was able to get a very special rate of 70 Euros due to my affiliation.

The hotel is located in a very upper middle class residential area that is very atmospheric (not in the old Rome sense but to get a feel of real residential Rome), very convenient to the Metro and many buses, and next to two of the best pizzerias in the world. Wifi was relatively fast. The surprise factor was that while breakfast was included in my rate and costs a steep 15 euros, they offer something called an Italian breakfast (never heard before). It consists of fresh fruits, fresh juice, croissants and coffee, all unlimited, including any and all kinds of freshly brewed coffees amazing cappuccino). This is priced at 6 euros which is a bargain!

There is an amazing terrace on the top floor from where you can enjoy sunrise, sunset and a view of the neighborhood, and just some great fresh air. The entire place is very modern, contemporary and fresh.

The hospitality, the welcome, the service is one of the warmest you will experience any where, with everyone speaking perfect English. There are 2 things you should be aware of. First, the property is on a slight incline in case you are walking to the hotel, and if you have bags, you should keep this in mind. Second, in the transitional season (like right now), the a/c does not work, so while it is still nice and cool outside, it does get a bit stuffy inside. Fortunately the windows can be opened, but you cannot leave them open in the night because surprisingly on this 'quiet' street, you will hear street noise even if you are on the 4th floor as I was. None of this dampened my enthusiasm and excitement at discovering this property. If you are lucky to stay here, you will not be disappointed.
