This place is not at all like the photos they publish. It is a terrible place to stay and we had to move from here as it was very hot and they turned their air conditioning off every night so the rooms were like ovens. I went downstairs to complain and the air conditioning was working well in the reception area. Other people were complaining but they refused to turn it on. It is very run down and they charge for everything, even the towels at the swimming pool. They would not let us in to the pool with our own beach towels and we had to pay to hire their towels. The management here doesn't care about all their unhappy clients, and there were plenty of us.
Don't stay here, you will be very disappointed, especially if it is summer as the rooms become very hot and impossible to sleep in that heat.

  • Liked — Nothing, it was run down and the staff were unhelpful.
  • Disliked — They turned the air conditioning off at nights-impossible to sleep

Myself, my daughter whi is 2 years old, my husband and another couple went to stay for a short stay at this hotel..Overall the stay was pleasant enough, though i was bitterly disapointed that the swimming pool was not ready, we were told that the pool is opened in June, and had we known that the pool would not be opened, we would have looked at staying somewhere closer to the centre..

We were told that we could use the pool next door at the Crowne Plaza, where we would get half price, it would still cost £17.50, which i think is alot to use the pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, I did kick up a fuss with aurelia, but they didnt seem to care that much, when i got there, lo and behold, i was told that their pool wasnt ready!!!!! so disapointed that my daughter didnt have a pool, there wasnt much else for her to do..

our room was great, we had a huge room, and it was clean and tidy, but even though we had a cooker, we had no utensils, and was told that if we wanted a kettlle, it would cost 30 euros, what crap...30 euros for a kettle? absolutely absurd, i did kick up a fuss
and after all that, i was given a stainless steel kettle which took 20 mins to boil some water for tea...not a normal electric kettle!

anyways, they were kind enough to let me go down to the breakfast room and bring up some teabags and cups, and i even pocketed some biscuits!

access to transport is great, but not child friendly, it was handy that we had our friends with us, no way we could have carried out luggage and the pushchair... the vatican, colleseum, trevi fountain, all are close to the hotel, there are great eating places in Cornelia, which is about 8-10 mins from the hotel, the place next to Crowne Plaza where we had our last meal, was great...

overall, i would say the hotel isnt bad, but could be better, staff were good, the guys at reception, Roberto and Jimmy spoke good english and were friendly and helpful enough...

shame about the swimming pool and the breakfast is not great, they charge 8 euros, for not even a normal fry up, just cold continental breakfats... better to go out to cornelia..

rome isnt child friendly, too many stairs on the metro, and buses dont have easu child access...enjoyed the stay, probably wouldnt go back again though...

Although the rooms are in a poor state and in need of renovating, we overlooked this given the cost per night and being in Rome did not spend a great amount of time at the hotel. We stayed at this hotel as it offered self service accomodation, however upon arrival the small kitchenette was not equipped. There was not a cup, cutlery or cooking utensils in sight. When we queried this we were told that we would need to pay 30 euro per day to be provided with utensils. We decided that it would be cheaper to buy a saucepan and paper plates etc., and went ahead and did this. Some 3 days into our stay we were cooking breakfast and the electricity in our room was turned off, without notice, and after the 5th call to reception, who had advised that they were fixing the problem, they then advised us that as we did not pay the 30 euro per day we were not permitted to use the cooking facilities (oven), so they turned off our electricity. We had to argue to have electricity returned to the room for the lights / power points etc., and discussion with the Hotels Manager did not provide us with a satisfactory outcome, and infact we found her to be very rude. Our main complaint was that at no time were we advised that we would have to pay to use the kitchen facilities, we were only told that for the hotel to supply utensils it would cost 30 euro per day. We also found that the staff came into our room when we were out to turn off any lights that we had left on during the day. The hotel also charges for use of pool towels, and they advertise a tennis court, however be aware that the hotel does not have a court. The courts are next to the hotel and belong to a club, so naturally you have to pay to use the courts, tennis raquets and hire of suitable footware, as they are clay courts. Apart from our stay at this hotel our time in Rome was fantastic....

This hotel is in very poor condition and in need of renovation. I stayed in this hotel as part of a tour group, and our rooms were not ready when we arrived after a 14 hour train journey, so we were asked to put all of our luggage into one of the few rooms that were actually ready for us, then go sightseeing for a while. As two of the women on our tour closed the door to one of these rooms, the handle did break, and they informed reception on the way out. When we arrived back to the hotel, hotel reception told them that they were not opening the door to the room for them to access their luggage until they paid 150 euros. In retrospect, that's when we really should have contacted the police.

This is a very old hotel, everything is about to break, and management will never, ever give you an opportunity to speak with the manager. We tried for two days to get in touch with her, but nobody would listen. Management claims that these women inflicted damage that required them to replace the entire door frame, and tried to point at crumbled and broken wood to prove their point. If a door suffers that type of damage as a result appropriate and reasonable use, it's just old and deteriorated, and I guess this is how the hotel finances its renovations.

The women on our tour paid the money, but management were very rude and unwilling to co-operate when we asked to see an invoice for the "repairs" they claim to have done on the door, nor were they willing to provide a short statement for the insurance companies that these women will need to follow it all up with.

This hotel is not in a convenient position, you need to take the metro to the second last stop on that particular rail line, then wait/hope for the next bus that will take you to the hotel.

On the upside, the rooms were very, very big, and had much better kitchen facilities than we expected, and very large bathrooms.

Overall, I really unsatisfying (and expensive) stay at this hotel.

  • Liked — It was very spacious.
  • Disliked — Staff are rude and uncooperative.

Not a bad place to stay really. There were 5 in our group, ages 17-54. We booked two rooms - one was a suite. Beds were comfortable, rooms clean and roomy enough, service good. If you don't mind taking the bus and Metro, you can do pretty well at this hotel by saving a few bucks on the room (you may need the extra money due to the pitiful value of the dollar against the Euro). Actually, the bus ride to the subway is less than a mile and they run frequently. Was a pretty good way to get around and get a sense of how people really live and travel in Rome. There are rwo restaurants within walking distance which we found to be good choices for evening meals. There is also the Crown Plaza Hotel next door which has a restaurant, casual dining room, and a bar. All in all, I thought this was a good choice given the size of our group and our budget. Everyone had a good time.

  • Liked — Value for the money
