Stayed here for 4 nights in June as part of a trip around Italy. Having read all the reviews and having stayed at the Princess Hotel (just 200m down the road from Parco Tirreno) the year before I knew what to expect of the area, but was getting the impression that the hotel wasn't great.

Check-in was efficient and the staff friendly and polite. Upon entering the room, it was apparent that certainly wasn't anything special. Yes, the carpets were old and dirty, but the bathroom was quite clean, (although the shower was tiny) and it had all the essential amenities, such as a safe, TV etc. The bed was large, but was composed of two single matresses put together which made it only slightly uncomfortable- I was expecting it to be worse. The balcony was nice and it was lovely to sit outside at night.

As for the hotel itself, I was impressed at the lovely gardens surrounding it, in addition to the restaurant also allowing you to eat outside. The breakfast was basic but did the job, but the dinner was much better and I quite liked it. The hotel bar was quiet but nice in the evenings to relax in. The pool was large and made a nice relaxing afternoon, we paid 15€ for the two of us but I deemed it acceptable for one ocassion.

The hotel's location is slightly inconvenient but not terrible, as Cornelia metro station is a brief walk away and the metro gets you into town much more efficiently and cheaply than a taxi. There is, however, not much nearby as stated in other reviews, except a McDonalds- but I considered eating there to be a crime in Italy of all countries, as Roman food is exceptional.

Overall, I would say the really bad reviews about this hotel are inaccurate, unless you are used to 5 star luxury resorts, what you get for the money you pay is not bad, given that Rome is quite pricy. The rooms aren't great admittedly, but the hotel serves it's purpose and the staff and facilities are of a high standard. If I was on a budget I would stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel June 20th and 21st, 2008 at the beginning of our guided bus tour of Italy. When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted (as a group) by the receptionist. She was very kind, understanding, and helpful and moved a large group of very sleepy tourists through to their rooms in a very clear and expedient manner.

From what we could tell, the hotel seems to be an older building that has been renovated. The accomodations are large, modern, and clean. Each room includes a bedroom, bathroom, seating area with TV, and a small kitchen. Much more than I'd expect in Europe, in terms of space. Our room also included two separate balconies (one off the bedroom and one off the sitting room). The grounds of the hotel are also just gorgeous and very well kept.

There were a few negative about the hotel. First of all, if you want to use the pool, there is a charge to do so. I'm not sure of the exact price, but I think it was around 8 euros, which I think is a little ridiculous. Secondly, there is a very small hot water heater inside of each bathroom - and when I say its small, that means that you better take your shower very quick 'cause the hot water doesn't last long! Thirdly, I'm not sure if the walls are thin or what, but we could hear water pipes running through the walls whenever someone would flush a toilet, use the shower, etc. We also heard a very heated argument in Italian from our neighbors. Lastly, as a tourist, I'm not sure that the Parco Tirreno is the best place to be. Sure, the metro is relatively close by. But, the immediate area is not very tourist friendly. We tried to walk to find something for lunch on our first day, and turned back to the hotel out of frustration. The area seems to be a suburban, working class area of Rome that doesn't make opportunities for tourists high on their priority list.

Take the negatives as you will... overall this is a pretty nice hotel.

This Hotel is very well presented, the bedrooms are large but a little sparse, that said the room was very clean with a nice balcony and beautiful gardens.

The Breakfast was continental but still very adequate.

The hotel is a little out from the centre of Rome but it only costs 1 euro to get there by the Metro (Cornelia is the best stop) do use use the Metro it is very efficient

A taxi from Termini Station will cost 45 euros (after haggling it down from 75) always haggle!!

Also when travelling from the Airport to Termini Station use the Romas Service buses ithey cost 6 euro's per person, do do use the Terravision bus (They only have one bus that runs from the airport to the station and back and that takes more than an hour) there is aways huge queues waiting for it and it cost 7 euros )Be warned if your are not in the first 50 waiting for the bus you will have to wait in the blazing for well over an hour for its return.

We stayed at this hotel as part of the Cosmos Splendors of Italy tour. I highly recommend this hotel!!!

This hotel was GORGEOUS! Patricia, our tour guide explained that it use to be a private reisdence, but if this was a private residence it was HUGE. The rooms here were more likes suites, we had our own kitchen area with a table and chairs, a couch, tv, and then another room with a bed and two balconies! The bathroom was extra clean and no funky smells! I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone traveling there. The hotel was about a 30 mintue walk from the Vatican and a 10 mintue walk to a metro station. It was the best hotel we stayed in the entire trip!

We decided to take it easy that evening and chose to eat in the hotel. There were several weddings going on but the food was pretty good. It was our most expensive dinner while in Italy. We retired to our room rather early to watch some more CNN because it was the only station that spoke English and went to bed early.
