Well, firstly we struggled to find the hotel - the map that Hotels.com gave us was very poor (only the major roads on it) and we wandered around the area for a while looking for it. Once we did get there(about 10 mins walk from Cornelia Metro station, nothing major), we found that the hotel was in a nice-ish area, set back from the road along a short driveway. There were a few snack/coffee bars in the area and a McDonalds nearer to Cornelia station.
The hotel from the outside seemed pretty nice, as did the reception. There was underground parking (didn't use it - didn't dare rent a car!) and also a little gift shop (prices quite reasonable - usual souvenirs and such like).
The reception staff (at that point) seemed quite friendly and helpful, and our room was ready when we arrived to check in.
The room was huge! It was like a little apartment, with a lounge/dining area (massive!) inc sofas, dining table and TV. There was also a kitchen area with a sink (no water), hob (didn't work or switched off?) and a fridge (did work - we chilled our wine in there!). The bedroom was separate and quite nice, bed was ok, contrary to other reviews I have read on here, and enough wardrobe space. The bedroom opened onto the balcony, which was a nice touch.
We also had a HUGE balcony which overlooked a patio area and the pool in the distance. This was quite nice, although the weather was way too cold to sit outside comfortably. There were also electric shutters (for security presumably), which I thought would have been a good idea, had the maids not left them and the patio doors open every day after they had made up the room!
As other people have said, the room, although huge, was a little soulless, but we didn't travel all the way to Italy to appreciate the interior design of a hotel room! It was fine for our purpose.
Main problem with the hotel - - IT WAS FREEZING!! On the second night I sat on the sofa wearing a vest top, t-shirt, three hooded tops with the hoods up, a scarf, long socks, trousers AND the eiderdown from the bed wrapped around me!! I wouldn't usually describe my attire in this way, but it's just to illustrate exactly how cold the room was!!
After this debacle, I went to reception to complain the following morning. The guy in reception said that there was no heating in the ENTIRE AREA until the start of November (Note that the reception was nice and toasty). I asked for a portable heater and the guy said that basically we had to deal with it and that it was the same in his house! An argument followed and we considered moving hotels.
The next night, the heating came on.......strange, considering reception guy's earlier comment!
Anyway, apart from this, the hotel was fine....I would recommend travelling there, but perhaps if you don't mind the cold or are planning a trip in Summer. This is why my rating for the Parco Tirreno is a 3, not a 5 - the heating problem and ensuing argument kind of took the shine off an otherwise excellent stay.
