I believe I had an exceptionally bad experience staying at this hotel. As a first time traveller to Rome, I did not know what to expect but this is what I found in Room 110:
1. Faulty cable connecting the tv to aerial (gave me an electrical shock when I tried to connect the cable after it fell out of place)
2. Exposed electrical socket on the headboard (a plastic or metal cover was missing because other sockets had them)
3. black mildew on silicone around shower tray
4. cold room (am just recovering from a 102F fever)
5. cockroach
6. staff threatened me with the following actions
a) I must pay for the entire stay when I tried to leave the same day I checked in after I found the heating to be not working.
b) Quoting a male member of staff "I have put a note with the Police and I have called the Emabassy, it is very dangerous, so becareful"
c) Forcefully charged my credit card for the entire stay because they turned down the option of me paying cash for what I saw was reasonable (one night out of the reserved two nights)
If TripAdvisor Staff is reading this, I plead that you revisit the rating which you have given this hotel - 3.5 stars. I trusted your professional rating however Room 110 did not meet the standards. Perhaps the staff decided to give me the worst room in the hotel because I was a young looking female traveller who also had her teenage sister with her.
There is so much more to tell other readers. If I had to do it all over again, I would keep the camera rolling whilst all this was happening and snapped a picture of that cockroach.
We felt so disgusted and did not want to remember Rome as the nightmare hotel experience, we checked out at 6pm and checked in at a TRUE 4 star hotel way across town (knowing I would never get my money back from Hotel Argentina).
