I stayed at the Ergife Palace as part of a Trafalgar trip in May. It is not the greatest hotel mainly because the rooms are so very small but it is also not the worst. It helped that I had read previous reviews on this website and knew what to expect. The hotel lobby is very beautiful and modern. The hotel rooms that Trafalgar guests are assigned to are very old and extremely small. However, the beds were reasonably comfortable and since we were only staying for one night it wasn't a great disappointment to me. I would have been very disappointed to stay in this hotel if I was staying in Rome for a week.not just because the room is so cramped but because it is really not close to the main attractions in Rome. We had a drink at the lobby bar and had no trouble getting service there. The drinks were extremely expensive but with the dollar being what it is I expected as much. The hotel is located in a suburb and there is at least one pizza restaurant nearby although we opted to have dinner in Rome with our group. If you are a Trafalgar customer and are staying here prepare yourself for the shock of such a small room. If you are booking this room outside of a tour group, I cannot recommend staying here.

Ergife Hotel is a terrible experience if you want to visit Rome. The hall was very beautiful and nice. We checked in and they told us that to access our room we should walk until the end of the lobby and pass one door. We did it and after this door things started to get bad. Looked like a old hospital. Walked until find the lift, old and poor manteinance. Arriving to our floor it was dark, old, with bad smell. The room was terrible, very small, with bad smell too.

Don`t go to this hotel. It`s far from the city center, far from the subway station, about 15 minutes walking. If you take a taxi will spend EURO 15-20 to reach main attractions in ROME. With this value per day, or each ride, you may find a better hotel, closer to a subway
station or city center.

If you really want to stay in this part of the city I reccomend CLAR Hotel, few steps from Ergife, with renewed rooms.

Don`t go to Princess, besides Ergife, is as bad as Ergife.

at first when I saw the other reviews for this hotel, I was horrified!
however, I found this to be hotel very nice. The lobby, restaurant and my room were a 4* standard. I spoke to the managers regarding the bad reviews on the internet, and they said that there are some works going on, and that they are closing one wing of the hotel becouse of that.
Maybe you should ask, when booking, a renewed room, but I don't know how many of them are renewed. I spent there 3 nights on BB basis, and being a part of BTC tourism fair, I think they provided us with a different breakfast then the other guests. The breakfast was excellent-quite rich and tastefull. It is a suburb of Rome, but main attractions can be easiliy reaced by metro.

This is a terrible place to stay. We read bad reviews on the internet
and contacted our travel agent with our concerns. She said she would check with her Trafalgar Tours representative and let us know. When she called back she said the hotel was remodeled and that we should have not concerns. Trafalgar Tours reassured her. When we arrived at the Ergife, we were delight to see a very nice lobby. When we were taken to our rooms, we were lead through the remodeled section of rooms and we thought, "this is great.:" To our dismay, we were lead to the end of the hallway and told to turn left, only to enter into a dark, dank, smelly room. The room had barely enough room to move around or to place your suitcases. At the bottom of the beds there was only enough room for one person to get through. Your luggage had to be lugged to the bed to be reopened for everything you needed. Not a good place to stay unless your agent books you in the remodeled
rooms. To our dismay, the desk clerk said, "Sorry, this is what Trafalgar Tours books for you. There is nothing we can do. Speak with Trafalgar."

About one third (300?) of the rooms are under renovation. One third are waiting for renovation. One third are newly renovated. It´s very important to get the last mentioned (Which was the case for our group of 39) The one´s I asked was satisfied with their rooms. Our room, and most, had a balcony, no noise, equipment and size normal for a 4-star in Rome. (Including flatscreen) The lobby is very elegant and big. Staff serviceminded above standard for Rome. Breakfast the most tasty we had, in our tour including 8 hotels. And served in a spacy, light and beautiful hall. (Or, more right, in many different halls.)
The one and big advantage with Ergife is the location. It´s not inside walking-distance from centre. And it´s 16-17 min from Metro. But if You see it from the bright side: You have no noisy traffic around, and the taxi cost just 10€. The 3 days we stayed, there was always cabs in front of the entrance.
PS. I fully understand the one´s who not had known the importance of ordering a renovated room, and therefore became dissatisfied. (Who could know before?)
