we booked a double room, but when we arrived the gave us a single room, saying they would change it the next day. The next day when we asked for another room, they said it wasn't possible because nobody had written down we should change rooms. So we had to sleep 2 out of 3 nights in a single room.

Breakfast is bad, coffee and bread tastes like it's been lying there for days. The hotel is like a maze, verry uncomfortable if you're carrying a lot of luggage.

The website says it's nearby a lot of sightseeings, but everything is far away, you need to take the bus for every place you want to go. An d the hood is scary at night. T

he hotel doesn't look like the pictures on the website at al and the windows in the rooms won't open, in case of robbery, which makes it verry suffocating.

The hotel is a rat hole. There is no air conditioning. The staff is not helpful. The location is on the wrong side of the tracks. No money is worth staying here.

We walked straight past our hotel when trying to find it. Dont stay on this side of the Termini railway, its considered the 'dodgy' side. There are alot of scary looking people, and the tourist spots are on the -other- side of the railway. Aside from that, the hotel itself is actually decent. It was a maze to get to our room. The room was large, and so is the bathroom. It was quite clean from memory. The staff dont look friendly and arent really helpful either. They dont even come to open the door for you when they see you're carrying things and having difficulty getting in.

We found the Madison to be a classy, customer-oriented 3-star place. It's definitely possible to find better deals if you shop around in Rome, but if you arrive without reservations and don't care about the view, this hotel is a solid choice. And if you want to stay right near the train station, as we did, your hotel options are all about the same -- they're a bit overpriced and worn-out. The wallpaper in our room was had some small rips, and the desk had a couple of chips, but besides those small aesthetic things, the Madison was great. Staff was super helpful, the room and bathroom were very spacious and immaculate, and the double-pane windows drowned out any noise from the busy street below. Breakfast was hearty (not your typical continental fare). In the future, we would shop around for better deals before arriving in Rome, but in a pinch we would certainly stay here again.

Hotel Madison was okay. We only stayed one night. It doesn't look quite like the pictures on the website. The decor is old and dingy. The elevators were very small. The hallways were like a dark maze. It's possible to get lost. The room was a decent size. It was clean. The lighting was dim and it was very stuffy in the room. The AC didn't work so we opened the window to discover a creepy courtyard. We were somewhat afraid because we heard dogs barking ferociously and a bird almost flew in. Therefore, we closed the window and tolerated the stuffy air all night. The bathroom was nice. Very clean and modern. The toilet was a little too close to the wall. My 5' 3" 125lb. body had to sit sideways. There was a sign next to the sink stating that the water was undrinkable. I'd recommend this hotel if you're not looking for luxury. Good location for tourists. Directly across the street from Termini. There were some shady people outside but it's safe as long as you're not alone.
