We found the Madison to be a classy, customer-oriented 3-star place. It's definitely possible to find better deals if you shop around in Rome, but if you arrive without reservations and don't care about the view, this hotel is a solid choice. And if you want to stay right near the train station, as we did, your hotel options are all about the same -- they're a bit overpriced and worn-out. The wallpaper in our room was had some small rips, and the desk had a couple of chips, but besides those small aesthetic things, the Madison was great. Staff was super helpful, the room and bathroom were very spacious and immaculate, and the double-pane windows drowned out any noise from the busy street below. Breakfast was hearty (not your typical continental fare). In the future, we would shop around for better deals before arriving in Rome, but in a pinch we would certainly stay here again.
