When we arrived to the hotel, the first impression was not good. An old building, in an unpretty area in rome. We change opinion when we got in the hotel. The stuff was helpful, the rooms were pretty good and very clean with all comforts.It is good for its price. The breakfast was excellent. The other room of our company was good but some comforts like air condition was out of order. It is near the train and bus cntral stations. We will restay in this hotel next time we return to rome

I stayed at the Galles for a week and had a marvelous time. I had a single room off of the lobby and it was a little small but I just needed it to sleep and take a shower. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The room was a bit used, but was well cleaned everyday. The breakfast selection was a little less than I expected, but was filling and made for a good start to the day. The location was only a few blocks from the train station, which made it easy to get around. I had a great time and would not hesitate to recommend it to others or to stay there again myself.

Don't believe the glossy photographs you see of this hotel on the web, the reality is a poorly kept hotel staffed by people who have no interest whatsoever in making your stay enjoyable. Standards of cleanliness are poor, & if you have the misfortune to be allocated a room in the back section of the hotel, you will likely get a room where the air conditioning doesn't work, you will then spend a night listening to Rome's traffic through open windows. Other problems in our room were the security box not working & the hair dryer being broken. When you report problems, you are fobbed off with stories of "engineers working now" or "I will send a porter". Breakfast is another event to be missed, you are offered the cheapest quality food available, & the orange juice tastes like it has passed through the population of Rome before it gets to you. Admittedly this hotel isn't expensive, but if services are advertised they should be available. Next time we're in Rome we'll pay extra & stay somwhere nice!!

Although the hotel's position is not too bad, about 400 m from the main station (in the opposite direction to the sites), it does not have the facilities that are described in some marketing information.
- the bar, such as it was, was never open
- very claustrophobic lounge area in the main corridor leading from the reception
- the restaurant is next door and the breakfast is basic to say the least
- some websites decribe a pool; non-existent

We were put in an annex building with a separate entrance about 100m from the main hotel entrance (real pain when it rains)
- 1st room we had was great for size but the bed was up a highly polished wooden staircase, on a highly polished wooden platform
- 2nd room was so small it just about accommodated the bed (don't complain at this hotel)

I would not go back to this hotel
