This hotel is conveniently located near the Termini train station, but the surrounding neighborhood felt unsafe during the evening hours. The location to the Ancient Ruins was fairly decent though and once you get out of the immediate hotel area it was ok. The staff wasn't very friendly and getting to the rooms was a chore as there were several steps you had to lug you suitcases up. The room was basic and the bathroom was pretty limited. There was a tub and showerhead, but no shower curtain. The tub was very, very small and the towels were pretty skimpy. They do have internet access in the lobby, but it isn't free. Breakfast was pretty meager (bread and coffee). There was a major ant problem in our room and we were bitten by bugs of some nature during the night. Probably wouldn't go back there if given a choice.

Was in Rome for 6 days, stayed at this hotel due to price and location. Right next to the train station and the drop off points for the Airport Shuttle bus used by ryanair.

This place is good if you are going to be out all day and night only to return ready to fall asleep within 10 minutes of getting in your room.

The Hotel:
The hotel is definitely not one i would like to spend conscious time in, just sleep. The rooms arent very nice, and the hotel has no amenities apart from a tv in the room and a pc for people to use (price ok). Breakfast is terrible, but it does the job. If breakfast is important to you, then this is def a no-no.

Worst part is having to listen to Celine Dion Album every morning of the week. AAAAaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!

The Area:
I dont know what it is but the couple of blocks this hotel is situated in, just seem vey shady. Lots of like furtive people hanging around can make you feel uneasy. Was very apprehensive about walking along some of these streets.

Overall:
For the price and great proximity to the centre, the sites, and the station this hotel is excellent. Just plan ahead, so you a) dont have to have breakfast, and b) have stuff to do that keeps you away from the hotel and the area!

  • Liked — Its location
  • Disliked — Breakfast, Celine Dion, Dodgy area, Bad lift facilities
  • Tips/Secrets: — if you dont mind roughing it a little, this hoptel is good value compared to others

First thing is it in a bad part of town, didnt feel comfortable leaving at night. Room had no AC. Mold on the bathroom walls, very noisy most of the night, very busy streets with the train station and bus stops so close. Terrible breakfast. only plus we found is that it was walking distance to ancient Rome sites. would no stay there again!

we were in Rome during May and we rent a room from Hotel Capitol for our last day of stay. this hotel is very very very convenient to the terminal, literally 2 minutes walk from the terminal which train is the best transportation between the city and the airport, extremely easy to get on the train (you don't have to go up and down to the platform to get on to the train.) the room i had was on the 5th floor, it had hardwood floor, the good thing about it is: hardwood floor did not absorb european smoke!! carpet at other hotels which absorb all the smoke from cigarette gave me a Big Time alergy, which is very bad during your travel. (non-smoking room is a joke in Italy, no one enforces it, therefore, non-smoking room probably = smoking room, even in 5 star hotel) we had big window in the room which is cool to keep air circulating while the AC is working fine, nice small bathroom, stand up shower which is good. no tub. the room was pretty big, pretty roomy.
i will definitely stay there if i will visit Rome again, for its price, for its condition and definitely for its location being closed to the terminal. you can find all transportation you need to travel around Rome in the terminal. you don't really need to join any tour at all.

We stayed at this hotel in the middle of May. There was no in-room safe so I asked the front desk personel about that. I was told that I could check items for safekeeping with them and they would put them in the hotel safe. When I retrieved my possessions, I was missing a gold chain with a cartouche pendant. This item was purchased in Egypt a few weeks earlier for the equivalent of $636.00 Canadian dollars. The staff were not at all helpful and actually rather insulting about the occurance. There were five people who had access to the hotel safe and by the way he responded, I suspect that the hotel manager was the person responsible. The Italian police were called and did talk to the hotel personel but to no avail. I would strongly recommend that people avoid this hotel.
Other than that, the hotel advertised a breakfast and we found it to be the worst one we had in three months of travelling in Europe and Egypt. The choices were dry, hard bread rolls, coffee, juice made from dry crystal packages and nothing else.
We had also booked a tour of the Vatican through the hotel and would not recommend that either. This tour came higfhly recommended by the hotel but we felt that it was a rip-off.
