The gardens of the Villa Borghese are very attractive and a pleasant respite from the crazy traffic of Rome. They are not far from all of the main attractions. I got there via the "hop on, hop off" double decker bus. It is a large area of green lawns and mature trees. Not much in the way of floral displays, but lots of gracious avenues with typical Italian style plantings, fountains and ornaments. The small lake, the Biopark and lots of quaint buildings are scattered around the many acres. The walking paths are very well made. It is possible to hire tandem tricycles near the Biopark (aka the Zoo), which was fun for families to pedal around the gardens. The signage within the gardens is quite deficient and I got sort of lost. At the northeast corner of the gardens is the great Galleria Borghese, one of Rome's best art museums.
