“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

A group of 9 (5 adults and 4 kids) stayed here while we visited Rome. The staff was amazing and very helpful. The property was great, a lot of room the pool was great. Breakfast is very simple but good. We had a great time staying here. Not in Rome but not far away and the price makes this place an incredible value.

I'm going to ask for my refund, it is not located in Rom but in Guidiona 30 km from Rom, it is the trick, they say that it is in Rom and you never get there, it's an Italian place to rest not for tourists.
You will spend more money in public transportation and the most important the time.

It was really funny to read the references from 3-4 years ago about this hotel and to realise that things did not change at all! It seems that the management of the hotel really doesn't care at all about the level of the service. I dont even say that to get there without a private car is a nonsence, poor tourists who choose this B&B to stay in Rome, its better to not live airport than, at least from there you can take a train, from this B&B there are few buses plus again a train.
Me and my husband have been attacted by the SPA center offer, that should include sauna in a private suite, hammam and some other treatments. As a result, we left that place without even to finish that "beautiful" experience. SPA center consists of some treatment rooms, sauna WITHOUT A SHOWER, pools for water treatments. And it could be even a nice place if the stuff would be profcessional and attentive. But two SPA ladies has shown to us their ingnorance and innattention. At the end, they just left us during a treatment, and my husband wearing a towel was forced to go out of the SPA to look for the lady on the yard.

People makes a place, and in this case they just destroy it.

It is the worst hotel I´ve ever stay!!it is really far from Rome, you spend like an hour from the hotel to the rome downtown, the bed was so bad, and unconfortable! it is very, very hard to find.......even all the bad comments if yo decide to stay there, here are some recommendation to get the hotel: you need to take the subway to ¨Tiburtina station¨ then when you get there, go to the Cotrall buses and buy a ticket and wait for the ¨Palombara¨ bus
( which pass every hour or two) then tell the driver that you are going to Residenza Villa Maria, then after 45 minutes, the bus stops in middle of the street and you need to walk like 1 mile.....then you are at Villa Maria! If you have the opportunity to pick other hotel...do it!
Also the breakfast was the worst, it is just bread and juice.....very bad hotel.

Ok yes it IS extremely hard to get to i got it but it was awesome there! when you stay ask for ROY he is the best. He helped me and my aunts and my mother on our trip! He gave us a bus schelduel of the bus that goes by, he told us everything NOT to do, which was very helpful considering that it was like 7 women on one trip. He was so very helpful and considerate, the first day we went sight-seeing he literally took us and showed which bus to take where the metro station was in Rome and told us the best places to go. So if you're planning to go to Rome this place is good to stay @! Just ask for Roy he works nighgts so it might be a while before you meet him! ^_^ Hope you enjoy your trip

The Villa Maria describes itself as a quaint Italian Bed and Breakfast located only 5 km from Rome….and this couldn’t be further from the truth. It preys on tourists who are not familiar with the standards of hotels in Italy and we unfortunately discovered this upon our arrival from the Rome airport. We expected to pay 40-50 Euros at most to get to the hotel….but were surprised to find out that few of the taxis would take us to the Villa, and none for less than $120, We were treated to pictures of an exercise room and Turkish bath that didn’t actually exist, and a minibar that was basically a small moldy refrigerator that wasn’t plugged in. Paper-thin walls and a queen size bed made up of two twin beds pushed together were the highlights to this place. When we finally attempted to get to the actual city of Rome from the Villa, we realized just how far away and inconvenient this place was. It took over an hour bus ride (on one of the many blue buses)…followed by a 30 minute train ride….to reach the Spanish steps. We doubled this time on our trip home that night…..and that was because we luckily made the last bus (at around 11 pm). Other guests at the hotel weren’t so lucky, and unfortunately had to find a nice Italian man to drive them back in his car. Please do yourself a favor and think very carefully before staying at this place. We stayed only one night….and we barely slept because every sound in this place (including crying babies and snoring) can be heard, regardless of what room you are in. Pay a few extra bucks to avoid the lies and stretched truths from the Villa Maria. Your trip to Rome will be much better. Ironically, the only good thing we can say about the place is that they have decent wireless Internet access which came in handy as we were able to search for another hotel “comfortably” from our “queen size” bed and plan our exit from this hellhole!

  • Liked — The free internet access.
  • Disliked — The paperthin walls and inconvenient location.

I have been to Italy many times from the north to the south and i can honestly say this is one of the best places i have stayed the rooms are big and clean it is a peaceful place to stay, no mopeds at all hours beautiful gardens, a pool, gym, sauna and jacuzzi romm and you can also book massages what more could you want after trawling round Rome all day but come back and relax.

Sure its not a fancy place to stay and the only meal is breakfast, but the idea is to be out all day and exploring different sights and restaurants.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and i found the tourists to be quite miserable and rude to the staff..

I will always stay at Villa Maria when im in Rome and i have booked again for this year.
