There's not too much to add to what has already been said. Alessandro is an amazing host.
It's really hard to find (we wandered around the area for 15-20 minutes before going to the Roscioli restaurant nearby and having Alessandro meet us there).
The wine-tasting was wonderful. We had nine or ten wines and all were really good but the whole process (if you're a novice like we were) is amazing in terms of explaining what wine tasting is all about. I do think the people you are with can add to the enjoyment--the merrier they are, the more you will enjoy yourself.
My only negative comment is that the food pairings at the beginning were too small for me. I was beginning to think I would need to get a cheeseburger after the tasting back at the hotel before the pasta was served (last food before dessert--I got seconds and that filled me up). And speaking of dessert, the tiramisu is fantastic--best I've ever had. So in the end, all ended well. But it might not be a good idea to go hungry and expect a big meal with wine--instead it's lots of wine with some food, most of which comes at the end.
