I appreciated how nice they were and how willing they were to help me. I was able to check in early (they cleaned the room right after I arrived at 10:15 am, and gave me space to use to rearrange my bags while I waited), the breakfast was healthy and fairly substantial, and they told me where a great local grocery store was that was only 2 tiny blocks away (bottles of wine for less than $2, bars of chocolate for 60 cents). The room was small, but pretty standard for Europe. My room didn’t have AC, only a fan, but I was comfortable (some rooms do have AC, and I think I could have paid extra to get it?). It was very clean. It's an easy 5-8 minutes walk from the main train & bus station and the transfer point for the metro, and blocks from a few tourist sites. It would be a farther walk to other main Rome sights, but they are walkable or it would be easy enough to get to the metro and bus station, where most routes originate. Even as a single female, I felt safe walking in the area after dark and early morning.
