Stayed at this hotel with my g/f for 5 days during the heat wave in Aug 2009. First thing is it can be a little tricky to find. I suggest you have a look on Google world/maps and look on their street view. It’s a simple walk of about 5 minutes from the subway entrance. You will go past several fast food places and general shops.

The reception is clean with a lift to all floors. All the staff were all very helpful.

The room we were given was a kitchen room which was great. It’s a very big suit for the money. It featured a sitting room the WC room a balcony (overlooking some other gardens) and a very big bedroom.

I cannot fault this hotel in any area. I searched around for a good price and received superior quality with this hotel.

The Hotel is minutes away from the Metro which made it easy to get around. Our room was a good size with a balcony and a fair sized washroom, although the shower was a little small. Our room was cleaned every day and was always air conditioned which was perfect because the weather was so hot. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I don't have a bad thing to say about City Guest House!

I chose this hotel because it was much cheaper than the hotels in the centre of Rome and the reviews on Trip Advisor were reasonably good. I need to say that I had one of the best holidays ever in Rome, so no matter how poor the hotel was, it would not have spoiled the trip. However the room was not only a little shabby, but the standard of cleanliness was actually quite poor, and on one day we were told our room would not be cleaned as we were too late going out. Some of the reception staff were reasonably friendly but the manageress seemed to treat guests like an inconvenience, and breakfast was fairly poor as well. You are given one roll and one pastry each, and allowed no more!

The low price enabled the stay in Rome and the location is not a problem as you are two minutes walk from the metro so can get from there to all the main attractions. Expect however to pay between 20 and 30 euros if getting a taxi home late at night.

Overall Rome was amazing for the shopping, sightseeing, hospitality and food / drink. This hotel had the advantage of being cheap but when I return to Rome I will pay a little more to stay somewhere better.

Don't get put off by the trek through the sketchy neighborhood, or the outside of the hotel at first glance. Inside, the hotel is bright, clean and open, with marble stairs and wood floors in the rooms. This hotel is not disabled or wheelchair friendly, as there are steps in the rooms, as well as leading up to the elevator. Free internet usage, functional lift, and air conditioning are all good. The rooms are cheery and cool, and come with a direct vent to the bathroom of the room above, for that special feeling of closeness with your neighbors. The beds are not too firm, but the shower is tiny. Bending any appendage while showering is not recommended. The directions from the hotel's web site are confusing, but so is the lay out of the streets in this neighborhood. The neighborhood is decidedly working class, and there is no great way of getting to the hotel that does not involve walking down what appears to be a back alleyway. The location is convenient to the metro line A (which is air conditioned).
