My fiance & I stayed here in October 2008 and had initially booked for 3 nights but had to check out and move to another hotel after 2 nights of no sleep at all!
The air conditioning did not work, the room was far too hot to sleep in, as well as that the noise from the road was awful as we were not able to sleep, between cars, mopeds and bin lorries emptying rubbish at 4am and then again at 7.30am. we asked to be moved room after our 2nd night of no sleep. the girl on reception said they were full and couldnt move us, even though i witnessed a couple checking out!

We went back to our room and packed our bags after making an online boking for a much better hotel which was located in a central area and not in a horrible area like city guest house, it is not a nice area at all with dodgy looking people hanging around street corners and groups of youths in dark areas - not somewhere we felt safe!

On arriving at reception to check out, we were asked why and after explaining again that we couldnt sleep, not even an apology was made. The service was awful and i would not recommend anyone to stay here, or if you do stay away from room 403!

I went with an open mind after reading good & bad reviews but honestly hated this place and i really do not complain often! In my opinion your money would be better spent elsewhere!

Although not dead in the centre of Rome, City Guest House is a 10 minute train ride from the essential sites. Buy a three day tourist train ticket for 11 Euro.
The hotel is close to 'normal' shops & you will save a fortune by eating at the local restaurants & cafes.

Could not believe our luck when we arrived at this clean, cheerful ikea clad hotel. Very cheap and a great location in a quiet suburb a couple of minutes walk from a metro stop. Restruant downstairs packed with locals and you can tell why excellent food and brilliant atmosphere. Rooms big and breakfast sufficient.

This hotel was an excellent 2 star hotel. The staff are helpful and there is quite a good choice at breakfast of cereal, buns, croissants, cold meat and fruit.
The room we were in was excellent. It was really clean, we had no trouble with the bathroom and we were lucky to have a fridge.
The hotel is located about 5 minutes away from the nearest Metro which takes you right into the centre of Rome (which is beautiful).
Don't pay too much attention to the bad reviews as I did before we went. This hotel is a good choice if you don't want to pay too much and want to be within easy access of the City centre.
