“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2007

After reading some of the other write ups on this hotel we felt that we had made a very good decision when booking our room at the River Palace and upon getting to the hotel we were assured of our decision. The hotel itself is great the elevator that everyone keeps mentioning is small but we never had a problem during our 5 night stay. We stayed in a deluxe room #205 and it fit our needs perfect.
All of the staff at the hotel were great; internet was easily accessible in the front lobby. The breakfast was good, you do need to ask them if you want a cappuccino though or you will end up with their version of American coffee. They had turn down service for us every night with a hand printed card giving us tomorrow’s weather and Godiva chocolates. They are excellent at the little things. Another nice touch was the note in our room welcoming us to the hotel. I cannot think of a single thing to complain about just a fantastic stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone the value is superb. If you are debating about hotels pick this one you will not be disappointed. For the money you cannot go wrong.
The hotel is right next to the Flaminio metro stop and 10-15 minute pleasant walk from Trevi Fountain and Spanish steps. Also if you are an Angel & Demons buff the first church mentioned Santa Maria del Popolo is right there in Piazza del Popolo. Have a great stay in Rome and if you take the stairs in the Piazza del Popolo to the Park you have a great view of St. Peters. CIAO!
Sorry have picks but the file is to big if need send me email and I will get them to you.

Super fancy. kinda pricey 320 dollars a night but included direct transportation to airport and breakfast. fantastic and complete breakfast. beautiful lobby and awesome bathrooms with good shower head. elegant artwork has two computers with fast internet. great location in north west of rome. 5 min walk from spanish steps and rome,s main shopping promenade. elevators are small and slow. must change elevators to get up to room - perhaps for security reasons, but its not a bad area of town. though it is a bit disconnected from tourist attractions such as the colloseum and pantheon, overall it is an excellent pick. would stay here again - especially if with a girl i want to impress. ps designer shampoo from milan - smelled great.

We stayed at the River Palace Hotel for almost a week in April and must say that we fell in love with the staff of this little Grand Hotel. We did not want to stay in a very small room because we were planning to do a lot of shopping and did not want to share the bed with the our bags and luggage. We booked a deluxe room and it was just perfect. The location is in the middle of everything. The only down side was represented by the small lift that takes from the 1st to the upper floors. It was dark and claustrophobic, but not that big of a deal after all.

The best part for us was “Ziro” the Bar and Restaurant of the hotel. The barmen, Alex and Fabio, are 2 phenomenal guys and their cocktails were just amazing. We counted more than 80 on the bar list!!! Every night they had homemade chips, fried mozzarella and other tasty snacks for the aperitifs and always a big smile to welcome you.

They literally pushed us to try their restaurant by offering us some fancy spaghetti served in a martini glass. It was so good that we decided to give it a try. We had the Meat Tasting Menu and this 8 courses meal in my opinion is the original tour of the gluttons circle, in addition to that, Asia the sommelier suggested us with elegance and professionalism the best red wine we have ever tasted. It is not cheap, but neither too expensive compared to other restaurants in town.

The desk clerks were nice and attentive and always working to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is spotlessly clean everywhere.

Even though the River Palace is probably not the best of all Rome’s hotels, its staff certainly is by far the best we’ve ever come across.
They made our stay unforgettable. Thank you!!!

The staff was very helpful, friendly and accommodating. It was nice that they could speak and understand English well. The room was very clean and efficient. We enjoyed the quiet street and the hotel was restful. The breakfast had a lot of options and it was very good. We found the hotel to be in a good position being close to the subway and easy to walk to the main points of interest.

If you like marble, you'll LOVE the River Palace!
This is a gorgeous hotel. Rooms are adequately large, comfortable and complete.
We found the shower unnerving, but that was minor.
The elevator change from floor 1 to the upper floors only served to drive us to walk the stairs which were spacious and easily available.
The food is wonderful, the service is top line. Every care is addressed, every requirement cheerfully solved.
We were within minutes of the Metro, the main sights are in easy walking distance, the River close by, the piazza a quick step away. This is a great place to be when you're just beginning to know Rome.
The staff of this hotel go out of their way to make your stay not just pleasant, but memorable.
You can't do better.

Have just returned from a wonderful four days in Rome. We booked this hotel after checking reviews on TA. So glad we took the advise. A warmer welcome would probably be difficult to find.
People have complained about the lift. We were on 8th floor and did'nt once have a problem or have to wait. Our room 802 was on the top floor as requested and overlooking the courtyard. It was very quiet with only five rooms up there. The room is very small, but has everything you need so long as you don't want to move around to much, that is the only reason I have'nt rated the hotel 5. As previously stated by others the location is very convenient, and the breakfast very appitising. Cooked breakfast is available at a supplement, and looked lovely. However I'm not sure you would want to start trekking Rome on a full stomach.

Would certainly recommend this hotel, so long as people are aware that the standard rooms are very small.

We used the shuttle to get to and from the airport - excellent service - kiosk straight after customs - £10.80 pp each way

Just returned from Italy including a 4 night stay at the River Palace. I booked based on the reviews I read and was more than satisfied. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms and common areas were very clean, modern, and in very good condition. Room size was typical for a European hotel but the bathroom was much larger than I expected. Breakfast was standard but food quality was excellent. Flamino subway station was less than a 5 minute walk giving easy access to all the sites. It was also a very easy walk to the Spanish Steps and not much longer to Trevi Fountain. The Vatican was also within a longer walking distance but easier to get to via the subway.

  • Liked — Clean, friendly staff, close to subway.
  • Disliked — Two elevator system to access rooms.
