If you want to be within walking distance of all the sights (or metro if your feeling lazy), of decent restaurants and a distance from the lucky lucky men trying to make you buy roses for your Mrs then this is the place for you.
Hotel was immaculate with all the staff being both friendly and informative, and the happy "3" hours were a real treat in the bar and a lot cheaper than some of the resteraunts. Breakfast had a decent selection for all, and the hand delivered weather forecast's with chocolates for the following day were a lovely touch despite only telling me we were going to get rained on.
From the airport we would recommend the shuttle as it was around 17.50 each to your hotel door as a pose to the 11 euros each on the train and metro. We would also recommend this on return as catching the train (which was slower than motorway cars) can take a long time.

We would reccomend whilst seeing the vatican and colleseum to go on the guided tours. while they are a little more expensive they are definitly worth going on and give you a lot more information than you would ever know just walking round alone. Also dont be fooled by the long queue to get into the vatican ...it moves very quickly.

From the airport we would recommend the shuttle as it was around 17.50 each to your hotel door instead of 11 euros each on the train and metro. We would also recommend this on return as catching the train (which was slower than motorway cars) can take a long time and left us a running through the airport.

We would gladly stay here again...

The hotel was a beautiful smaller hotel just off of the Piazza del Popolo. This is great location for walking everwhere. If not, subway station is right there for your convenience.
We have traveled Europe many times and know the typical room is small, so that was no surprise. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Breakfast was very good with many choices. We would recommend this hotel to anyone. We really enjoyed our stay.

we really liked our stay at the river palace the location was great because it wasn't in a very busy or noisy part of the city and it was sooo close to the metro which is a definite plus!!
The breakfast was great it and so was the service they also have free internet down at the lobby which i totally took advantage of..
the only bad thing was they didn't have early check in which was horrible for us ..we had just flown for about 13 hours and we arrived at the hotel about 11 am my face dropped when they told us our room wasn't going to be ready until 2pm ..seriously? i guess i was used to the u.s where they check u in at any time..so yeah it sucked that we couldn't take showers or freshen up so we were stuck with a map they gave us to go explore the city for 3 hours all jetlagged and tired..
oh yeah and one more thing i had put the do not disturb sign on the door the next day while we went out cuz i didn't want our things moved around ..but when we came back to our hotel room we found the door wide open with the housekeeper in there cleaning up and moving our things around.. oh yeah and they have the tiniest elevators u will ever see!
But those things are just little things we got over and didn't let it ruin our trip..over all we loved staying there with their small rooms and all and we would probably stay there again ..

Great rooms, handy location near the subway, comfortable beds, large delicious buffet breakfast, tasty snacks and reduced drinks during happy hour and all of this was only exceeded by the courtesy and assistance of the day front desk manager and his entire staff. This is one of the best values and hotels I have stayed at in my extensive travels in Europe.
