We booked this hotel after a tour of Italy, and based on reviews on Trip Advisor, and weren't disappointed. It was wonderful. We arrived early, and didn't expect to be able to check in, but the staff couldn't do enough to get our room ready for us almost immediately. The rooms are quite small, but beautifully decorated. The location is perfect, close enough to walk everywhere, or to catch public transport if you choose to. There is free internet, a real bonus in Europe, and a happy hour in their very comfortable bar area, with free snacks. The staff made numerous calls to transfer companies when we had no copy of our airport transfers (another story!), to locate the company and ensure we were picked up on time. Breakfasts were great - toast would be good though - and there were plenty of places close by to eat out which were reasonably priced, or within a 10 minute walk.

We stayed for three nights in early June 09. It 's in a good location, only five minutes' walk from the Via del Corso, ten minutes from the Spanish Steps. It was easy to get to (train from Fiumicino to Termini, four stops on the Metropolitana to Flaminio), though the entrance is so discreet we nearly walked past it. All the staff were unfailingly cheerful, courteous and obliging, the room was quiet and comfortable (though the AC struggled a bit), and the breakfasts included tasty fresh fruit and pastries. The coffee was poor, though; ask the staff to bring you a cappuccino. The best thing was the happy hour, with half-price drinks from 6 to 9 pm and plenty of sandwiches and nuts to keep you going till dinnertime. Oh yes, and free Internet access. A great hotel.

We spent three nights at the River Palace prior to a Princess cruise. The Hotel has been remodeled and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are small but very nicely decorated. The air conditioning is OK but the controls leave a little to be desired.

The Hotel is in a great location, less than one block from the People's Plaza. Quite a few pizza restaurants and more upscale restaurants within walking distance. Walking distance from the Spanish Steps and Tivoli Fountain. Would definately stay here again. Buffet breakfast was good with several choices included in room price.

My husband and I stayed at the River Palace for two nights at the end of May. This was our first stop on our 3-legged trip to Italy. We had heard some pretty bad stories about the hotels in Rome in general, so we weren't expecting much. So, you can imagine we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the lobby and were greeted by Georgio at the concierge desk. The lobby was clean and welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is central -- within 3 min walking distance to the train and just a few minutes further to Piazza del Popolo. You can also walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain if you're up for a 15-20 minute stroll. It's particularly lovely in the evening. The best part of our stay was the amazing breakfast spread (complimentary). It included eggs, meats, cheeses, fruits, veggies, pastries, and juices. It was really a great start to each morning!! River Palace had the best breakfast out of the three different hotels we stayed in throughout our trip. Overall, nice hotel. Good price for the location. The rooms are tiny, but we expected that, so we weren't too disappointed. They had free internet with several computers set up in the lobby - very convenient.

I had reserved a Deluxe room at the River Palace Hotel for 140 €, about six months in advance. I thought this was a pretty good deal for such a nice hotel, especially since their rates just kept going up with time. When we checked in at about 10 AM, there were no Deluxe rooms ready, but they offered us immediate access to a Superior for 20 € more per night. I hadn’t booked a Superior because I didn’t think a few additional square feet of space were worth 20 €, but it’s a different story when you arrive jet-lagged and grimy. We basically paid an extra $84 (20 € per night for three nights) just to get a shower right away. At the time, it seemed like a bargain! Just be aware, if you get a good deal, you might have to pay more if you are not willing to wait for your room class.

The River Palace hotel facilities, staff, and room were all very, very nice. Not too small for a Rome hotel room, and every amenity you could ask for-- including a digital safe, Sky TV, thermostat-controlled air conditioning, and bathrobes. They even provided turn-down service with chocolates, weather forecast card, and a linen towel by the bed to step on. I wasn’t fond of the “musk” scent of the shampoo and conditioner, but they were good quality. The only issue we had was (ironically) our $84 shower. I would call it a “sprinkle” rather than a “shower”. The water pressure was low; and even with the cold tap turned entirely off, the water was more warm than hot. The only other "problem" (if you can call it that!) was that the room was so quiet and the blackout shades so good, we overslept the first morning and missed our Galleria Borghese reservation. Free Internet in the lobby was a plus.

The hotel breakfast was fabulous! Even better than last year’s hotel (which was very good). In addition to the standard breads, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, cereals, muesli, milk, juices, and fruit, they also offered hot dishes such as scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. All delicious. You could get a cappuccino with some effort to make a request, but their regular coffee was so good that I only bothered once. And their pastries were incredible! I still miss their hazelnut cookies, and the chocolate mini-pies with shortbread crusts. We often skip lunch while sightseeing, so we really enjoyed having such a substantial and yummy breakfast to keep us going.

Location was good-- only a couple of blocks from the Flaminio metro, and a 15-minute walk from the Centro Storico. Very nice luxurious hotel.
