My husband and I had a pleasant stay here. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. The hotel room, though on the smaller size, which seems to be the norm for hotels in Italy, was quite pleasant. The decor was beautiful, both within the hotel lobby and the room itself. A bonus was the complimentary computer and internet in the lobby. Another bonus, happy hour at the bar- 2 euro's for a full glass of wine. The location was towards the northern end of the major attractions, but very close to great restaurants and shopping. We love to walk, and everything for us was within reasonable walking distance. We'd come to stay here again!

It was the first hotel on our travel across Italy. In total we were in 7 various hotels across all Italy from Venice to Ichia. All hotels of 4 stars. But this was the best. And the best in this hotel - the personnel. We did not meet such friendliness anywhere. To my son have presented in hotel game, it was very glad and till now recollects and tells about it to friends. More shortly - these people know as to conduct hotel business. I wish and in future to do the part with love to people! The hotel is not in the centre, but it is very convenient to use public transport and if not to be lazy that and on foot it is possible to reach many interesting places. A breakfast very good. We love this hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed at the River Palace in February 2009 after reading the reviews on here, and getting an excellent rate from Expedia. Given the rate that we paid, we weren't expecting too much from the hotel, but we were so surprised when we arrived!

The check-in staff were really friendly and helpful. We had got an early flight into Rome, and although our room was not ready when we arrived at the hotel (around 10am), they allowed us to store our bags so that we could go and explore the city.

The room was small, as many people have said in their reviews. However, it was very smart and clean, and had everything we needed. After all, we were there to see the city, not to sit in our room, so it really wasn't a problem.

The continental breakfast included in our room rate was fantastic! In my experience, continental breakfast usually consist of a limited choice of breads and cheese, but the breakfast at the hotel was extensive, with a wide range of meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, even sausages and bacon. There was also some amazing fresh cakes on offer.

Location-wise, we couldn't have asked for more. Just a short walk was the Spanish steps, and all the main sights were an easy walk down the main street. The hotel also benefits from its proximity to the Villa Borghese, a lovely park which provides a bit of a break from the busy city, and is definately worth a visit.

The hotel is only 2 minutes from the Flaminio metro station, which is only a few stops on the metro from Termini. We got the Terravision bus from Ciampino airport to Termini, and from there we took the metro to the hotel. This was considerably cheaper than getting a taxi from the airport, and was very convenient.

We were very impressed with this hotel and would not hesitate to stay there again.

This was, without a doubt, the most luxurious place we stayed in Italy. It is expensive and don't get the basic double. The deluxe is the lowest you should go here as the basic has no room except for a bed. Although expensive, it isn't really that expensive by Rome standards and it was incredibly beautiful, quiet, clean, friendly and helpful. It was just two blocks from the metro and convenient to get just about anywhere.

I cannot say enough good things about the staff, from the bell hop to the consierge to the wait staff. They were all super friendly and helpful, made us reservations and made phone calls and helped in many ways. The breakfast there is the only "american style" breakfast we had in Italy and it was very good (also offering Euro style). There is a happy hour in a lovely rececption area with free snacks in the evening.

We LOVED this place. I absolutely recommend it and, in Rome, you should pay the extra to have a lovely, quiet ,accomodating place to come back to after a hectic day of touring!
