If you have not stayed at other Roman hotels you won't realize how great this place is- or how bad other supposed 4/5 star hotels can be. The location is great. Very close to the Colloseo and forum. The neighborhood is upscale with great restaurants.

Best Pizza (in Rome): leave hotel, make left, make left at corner, walk one short block, restaurant on left. Literally 30 seconds from the front door of the hotel. Called "la spagella"- though I think my spelling is off. Upscale for pizza, huge menu, great atmosphere, house wine by the liter is excellent.

Other great restaurant: make right, make right at corner, look for huge neon sign saying "trattoria". on left. You can't miss it. There are two restaurants under the sign. Go to "La manche". Nice atmosphere, great staff, great food, had dinner there on a Tuesday at 1AM and the place was stilled filled.

The rooms are great, clean, ultra-modern, large by Rome standards. Yes, there is ALOT of street noise all night but this is Rome. You'll get used to it, sort of like churchbells. You get noise everywhere in Rome at night.

The showers are huge and the bathroom, while smallish, makes good use of storage. The front desk staff could not be better, so friendly. The bar staff is very professional and actually know what they are talking about when it comes to wine. They have a HUGE bar menu, so many wines by the glass. Try the red Sicilian wine or ask Roberto what he suggests. They are all the same price and reasonable for hotel standards.

Breakfast is good, except the coffee. Wi-Fi costs, you have to buy the card. 5Euro for an hour. From now on I won't stay anywhere else.

There is no restuarant but you can order from the large room service menu in the bar.

I'll never stay anywhere else again while in Rome.

There were two couples traveling in our group and we stayed at Capo D'Africa from October 13 through October 19th of 2008. I can't say enough good things about the concierge service. The made all sorts of reservations for us, gave advise, helped us with our Italian. Once, I inquired the name of the medieval church that can be seen from the roof top terrace and the manager happened to be in the Lobby at the time. He was amazingly knowledgeable and gave us a short history of that church and of the churches in Rome in general. Everyone was very helpful, even willing to open the breakfast room a bit earlier to accomodate an earlier tour departure. The roof top terrace was a perfect place to end our busy days. We'd get a drink in the Lobby, or bottled water, bought elsewhere, and we'd go up there and recap our day. The potted plants in the terrace were so evocative of the region with their fruit-laden olive and lemon trees, it was truly a pleasure sitting up there. My only complaint is with the bathtub in our room. Instead of a flat tub floor, it was curved and very slippery. When we arrived home we had several bruises on our thighs and legs. Eventually, we solved the problem by laying a towel inside the tub, because the rubber mat they had there didn't work very well. Otherwise, the bathroom was very nicely appointed. On my next trip, I plan to stay elsewhere, but only because I'd like to explore a different neighborhood. But for our first trip to Rome, this hotel really put out its welcome mat.

I've been meaning to write, as we stayed here in late Nov. 08. We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, staff, and the neighborhood. We walked everywhere from this location. The breakfasts were very nice in the rooftop room. There is a great neighborhood restaurant only about 1-1/2 blocks away, but I can't remember the name of it. The hotel seemed to steer us to expensive restaurants, but we like to go where the locals go. If I go back to Rome, I would want to stay here again!

We just spent 3 days, 5 - 8APR09, at the Capo d'Africa, thoroughly enjoyed it! We were met at the curb by the bellman for help with our bags (up several steps!) and had a smiling reception, as if they'd been waiting all day just for us. The spacious room had a comfortable king bed with a window view across neighboring rooftops. The spotless bathroom was actually big enough for 2 people to occupy together! (Not the case for many European hotels!) Exceptionally clean bath with window, shower stall, marble floor and upscale vanity products. Breakfast was more than ample - fruits, cereals, meats, croissants, terrific coffee! - with indoor/outdoor dining option. The rooftop terrace was a peaceful respite at the end of a long day of touring - drinks can be ordered as you breeze past reception, then delivered to your chaise on the rooftop terrace. The entire staff was extremely helpful - and fluently bilingual (don't expect this everywhere). Fitness center was small - but who needs one when walking all day in Rome? Thumbs up for modern style, efficiency, friendliness, value and location. Thumbs down - no full service restaurant on site, only 2 free English TV channels. Also - unsure where that view comes from with the chaisle lounge with Colosseum behind it; there is no Colosseum view from the rooftop. That aside, this hotel is definitely recommendable!

My fiance and I just spent 10 days in Italy and we chose Hotel Capo d'Africa based on the generally positive TripAdvisor reviews and location of the hotel. As promised, the hotel had modern decor, a nice breakfast and a convenient location to many of the major of attractions. Somewhat disappointing to us, however, was the perpetual sales pitch from one of the front desk staff members. My fiance and I were aware that we could make a reservation at the Vatican to avoid the long line, and when we asked the concierge to help us with this, he told us that he could only help us to schedule a tour with a certain tour group, but not to make a reservation for us to tour on our own. After we paid for a WiFi connection (not free at this hotel) to make our own reservations at the Vatican, the staff member was unwilling to print our information for us and the hotel doesn't offer a business center with printer. Additionally, the same staff member referred to a very disappointing restaurant in the area (seriously sub-par food, and we're not picky eaters!) and when we arrived at the restaurant we could see that the only other diners there were also staying at our hotel, which made us think that there was some little payola scheme in effect. Upon our checkout, we discovered we had been charged 2x as much for our internet purchase as we should have been... fortunately we had retained our internet card and had "proof" that we had been overcharged for the internet time we had purchased. And last but not least, the lovely roof top terrace/patio that is featured on the internet, was not lit/ usable at nightime, nor does it have a view of the Colosseum, nor is food served there. The bottom line for us was that the hotel didn't live up to the hype that its website and some other TripAdvisor reviews promoted. In our opinion, there are many other wonderful hotels in Rome for the same somewhat high price we paid for this hotel. We wouldn't stay at the Hotel Capo d'Africa again.

Dear Customer,
It goes without saying that it is with great distress that I learned about the inconvenient occured during your recent trip to Rome.
We constantly strive to please our clients in the most professional and personalized manner and your comments sound to us as a failure to our Company’s mission statement.
Hope to welcome you again in order to prove that it has been an “ exception to a rule”
Best regards
