This hotel was lovely, recently renovated rooms. They were big enough for the 3 of us after a long flight, it was just what we needed. Perfect location to get around Rome, so close to the main train station, a great restaurant up the road where we had a lovely dinner one night. But the thing that always keeps this hotel in my memory was the amazing breakfast in the morning! We loved it. Pastries, rolls, cheeses, meats, eggs, so much food and so good, plus hot chocolate in your own kettle! Awesome!

I stayed at the Milani for a three-day break with my girlfriend. On the first night, we were surprised to be told that there was no room free for us. But the porter escorted us to a nearby 4-star hotel (Royal Santino) straightaway at no extra charge. No problems. Overall the staff were helpful and friendly enough.

If anything, the room at Milani was probably slightly better than that at the four-star hotel. It was nice to have a small balcony and the room was very clean, comfortable and spacious with a nice bathroom and shower. Minibar prices were also very reasonable.

Breakfast was good, with a healthy choice of cereals, fruits, breads and meats (which I unfortunately managed to miss on both mornings.)

The location is pretty much perfect, two minutes from Termini station and walking distance from most tourist attractions (we went for a wander and walked down the Spanish steps without even realising!)

If I was planning another trip to Rome and the price remained the same, I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

3 Minutes walk from main railway station, in a safe area, old hotel, old fixtures and fittings - could do with a face lift - BUT comfortable, clean and handy for walking to everything. Breakfast good and downstairs bar nice place to relax. Free internet connection in lounge.

My daughter & I stayed here as our first stop to our European trip in early October 2008. Not knowing what to expect we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a room at the front on the 1st floor & the only complaint ,was because it was very warm in Rome at the time, leaving the window open at night was hard as the noise coming from the street made it a bit hard to sleep - closing the window cut out most of the noise but then the room was a bit warm - but honestly not that hard to put up with - we had a room with 2 double sized beds & so comfortable. The bathroom had been recently renovated & really very very nice. The only problem we had was the pillows were incredibly lumpy & very hard to get into positions for sleeping, this point was really our only problem with this hotel.
Our room was very clean as was the rest of the hotel.
The hotel offers free internet & this is such a plus - it is a bit slow at times & you have to wait your turn as there is only one computer but our whole time there we had to wait only once.
The front counter staff were very helpful & always nice to us nothing was too much trouble, the cleaning staff were the same ,the only people that were a bit distant were the staff in the breakfast room, no where as nice as any of ther rest of the staff.
Breakfast we found from our travels around Europe was really great, lots of salad, ham, plus juice coffee tea, pastries cereals ect, after reading the previous review were are both a bit disappointed as were never saw any bacon & eggs, don't know if there wasn't any at the time or if the staff couldn't be bothered serving us any - not to worry we'll know for next time.
I f you get back from your sightseeing before 5pm ( I think) the hotel also offers free tea coffee juice & bickies in the TV room & there is also a bar that opens at night although we never used it.
We really liked this Hotel. Also as mentioned being 2 women on our own was not a problem & at no time did we feel unsafe walking around the area the Hotel is in - Now for the rest...............
Being so close to the station was the best, we did not travel on the trains again until we left for Florence but at the station is also the bus terminal so getting around if you wanted to do so by bus is extremely easy.There is a supermarket not far from the hotel, when you come out of the hotel turn right & just keep walking up the street & it is straight ahead slightly to the right.
Also if you exit the hotel & turn right , heading back towards the station, there are two restaurants, one on each corner, both are on the other side of the road as you exit the small lane the Milani is on, BEWARE - do not waste your money - it would be better to go without food rather than try & deal with the people that run these restraunts,both of them are so incredibly rude, the one that has pastries in the window has terrible food & the older man who is the waiter yelled at us making my daughter cry, we did not know that you must not try to pay your bill at the cash register at the door, maybe he misses out on the tip or something, but he yelled at us calling us rude Americans ( we are Australian) I could not make him understand me, & being two women alone ,seemingly made us easy marks & ok to yell at. The other one simlpy ignored us, we could not get anyone to serve us, the waiter served everyone else & even when we got up to leave no one cared a bit.This was all on our first night .
It is a hike but we discovered an area the other side of the Piazza Novona that has the most amazing food & the people are fantastic. There is also the best English speaking dentist (unfortunately I had real trouble on my first day) he fitted me in & then gave us tips on where to eat & what to see around the area - really great - His nane is Dennis M Winter Tel [--] via Del Governo Vecchio 73.
My daughter & I really loved Rome & we are at present planning our next trip back there, taking my husband this time, We are definitley going to stay at the Milani (maybe in a back room next time) & woulld recommend it to anyone
