Stayed there last year got a great room so booked again this year. We were given a room on the 4th floor - I was slightly worried when we got off the lift and the carpet was filthy and stained and I was right to be worried. Our room was tiny with two very small single beds pushed together. We had booked a double room and my husband could hardly fit in one of the beds! Also the wallpaper was peeling the bathroom was incredibly small and sprinkler head for the shower didn 't work! It was just a constant stream of water like a tap. No hairdryer, no safe these we could live without but were advertised on website. We asked to be moved to a room with a double bed as booked and there was no problem with this. When we returned to the hotel after a day out we were given the keys to our new room. Initially we thought it was going to be great - far bigger with a double bed-still no hairdryer or safe but this was the least of our worries. The bathroom ............the toilet wasnt screwed to the floor and moved if you touched it, the sink wasn't fitted properly and the plug was permanently stuck in so couldnt be used, the showerhead did work but the water was hot then cold and the bath which the shower was over had four holes in it! Very disappointing especially as it's not cheap to stay. Definately never staying there again and would not recommend to anyone!

We arrived in Rome and walked into this hotel on the chance that they'd have a room available for 2 nights. They said they could accomodate us but would have to move us to a different room for the second night.

The first night was wonderful. The room was lovely - very modern and great value for money. The reception and dining room are beautifully designed and feel modern and clean. We couldn't believe our luck!

However, on the second day our bags were moved to the new room while we were sightseeing. When we returned, it was as if we'd walked into an alternate universe. This room was filthy with old furniture, damp peeling patches on the walls, worn-out smelly carpet and a mouldy bathroom. Apparently the management ran out of money when they refurbished the hotel and so half of it is gorgeous and modern whilst the rest looks like a squat. We were shown another room in the 'old' section of the hotel, but this was equally awful so we left.

A great hotel if you can get an assurance that you'll be in the newly refurbished part. If not, avoid it like the plague!

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Adriano on three separate trips to Rome. Our first two trips were in 2006 and our reviews of the hotel were excellent. After our more recent stay in 2008, we will not be returning to this hotel should we find ourselves in Rome in the future. The hotel has a great location but the unfriendly staff and unclean rooms are not what one would expect for this level of hotel.

This hotel was a perfect end to a perfect honeymoon.
The location of the hotel is brilliant... bang in the centre of all the atmospheric places you could wish for to stroll out in the evenings and soak up the buzz of the city. The Pantheon, the Trevi fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Piazza Navona all less than ten minutes stroll away.
The collosseum, Castle St Angelo and the Vatican are all 20mins walk away... didn't have to use public transport once, which is fantastic since it tends to be where people might run into pick pocketers.
100% disagree with comments about the staff being rude and arrogant... I think it's more likely a case of treat them with arrogance and they might feel less inclined to be helpful!?!
Our experince of the staff was brilliant... In fact they went above and beyond our expectations and could not have been more helpful if they had tried.
They sent us complementary champaagne since it was our honeymoon, they allowed us to sit behind the counter and use their computer to log onto the BA site to check in online and print out our boarding cards even though they offer internet access in the rooms at a cost, and, at the end of our stay when we had a long wait between the check out time of the hotel, allowed us to keep our room at no extra cost.
There are fantastic spa facilities beneath the hotel although unfortunately on the Sunday, when we had considered using it, was closed.
The hotel itself is beautiful. We met the female owner, who was incredibly friendly, and it all slotted into place, definately a womans touch in this hotel, typically italian femininity - smart, bold statement pieces, elegant and unfussy.
The rooms are fairly small, but this is Rome, you're in the centre of things and if you want to spend hours in your room instead of out and about in Rome, check into some faceless hotel chain on the outskirts and you can have all the space you want. But if you want character, location and staff who genuinely care about your stay, this hotel is great! Recommending this place to all of our friends!

  • Liked — Location and eagerness of staff to help
  • Disliked — view from our room, but it's as good as can be expected due to location

Rome was the last stop on our tour of Italy, and after staying in 2 fantastic hotels in Venice and Florence we were disappointed when we arrived here. The lobby and bar area are lovely, but when we got to our room it was tiny!! Also, the walls are paper thin and we were disturbed everytime the guests upstairs had a shower and woken up by the people next door who were chatting at 5.30am!
The location is excellent with major attractions just a few minutes away, but if you're looking for a peaceful retreat after a day of sightseeing you won't find it here.
