Booked this on the internet as the last 2 nights of our Europe holiday, and selected based firstly on location (wanted something central to all of the action and tourist attractions - especially the Colosseum), then on affordability, room reviews, and overall bang for your buck. It's no secret that Rome is hideously expensive for accomodation, so our expectations were not high. This place was PERFECT for our needs - we have 2 young children, and the room was adequately sized with a Queen bed and two singles for the kids. Bathroom was compact but very pleasant and completely adequate, as well as well kitted out with the usual hotel room giveaways like shampoo, soap, shoe polish, shower caps. We were on the 2nd floor (accessed by lift) with a view over the main entrance courtyard. Walk less than 20 seconds from the entrance and you are in full view of the Colosseum. Everywhere we wanted to go tourist-wise with kids (except for attractions by The Vatican which we took the train to) was very easily accessible by foot. The taxi driver on our way to the Hotel said we couldn't have picked a better location for all the sights. About 10 metres from the front entrance as you are heading left is a friendly little eatery that serves all manner of Italian favourites. Cheap and cheery, and highly recommended. Breakfast at the hotel was good - not flash, but completely met our needs with a range of cakes and pastries, yoghurt, cold meats, juices, toast. Only criticism is that a little music (even having a local radio station playing over the sound system) would have made this area feel a bit friendlier - everyone is eating in silence and you feel the need to be very quiet which can be a challenge with kids. Front desk and service staff were very friendly and helpful.

I tried booking this hotel, which has great reviews, through the various web sites that came up through Tripadvisor's links. Travelocity had the best deal, so I booked through them. When I got my confirmation, I realized I had been led to another property with a similar name: Fori Imperiale Apartments. I immediately tried to cancel the reservation because I wanted a hotel, not an apartment, but I was told by Travelocity that the apartment did not allow cancellations! Essentially, I'd lose the $1300 I paid for two rooms for three nights each. I ended up staying there so as not to lose the money. The units were fine, but I was deceived by the owner into leaving my one-bedroom unit after my first night so "it could be repaired" and moved into a smaller studio. All in all, a very unpleasant experience. Just make sure when you book the Fori Imperiale Cavalieri that you're getting the hotel and not an apartment. By the way, there are several apartments by that name. The one I had problems with was handled by Rome Sweet Home, with a key collection office on via della Vite 32. The actual unit is located at via dell' Archetto in the old section of town, not far from the Trevi Fountain. Again, it's not a bad unit, but just be sure you know what you're getting in advance.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 days on our first ever visit to Rome. The location was fantastic!! They offered a transfer service from the airport which was very helpful. The staff are very helpful. We stayed in a Junior Suite which did feel slightly small to us, I am not sure what the standard Doubles are like. Great breakfast! We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to visit from this hotel, including Vatican City. The Colosseum was very very close. The bathroom was quite big and well appointed. The hotel had air conditioning which was great as it was quite hot in Italy. We were able to leave our luggage there after we checked out and were then able to collect it late in the evening. We were very happy with this hotel.

Directions to the hotel were unclear. Location was great for the Forum, Colosseum but a trek for the Vatican. Rooms were basic, small as you expect in Italy. Very average, nothing to rave about.

This is an excellent hotel - fairly priced, very charming and clean, comfortable, quiet - and within a short walk of the best sights of ancient Rome.

I stayed in seven different hotels in Rome this summer, on numerous trips, and when I discovered this one, I felt I'd finally found the perfect hotel. Since then, I have stayed here on three separate occasions, both with my daughter and by myself, and each time it was absolutely problem-free. The owners and staff are patient and helpful, the breakfasts were excellent. The neighborhood offers both touristy-type restaurants as well as more authentic local bars and eateries. You're also close to major bus stops and a subway line. The hotel itself is on a quiet, charming street, away from the noise. I'd recommend this place to anyone and will DEFINITELY be going back!
