Staff was friendly.

Stayed in a single room on the third floor. Small room but comfortable. Cold air conditioning, user controlled. However, the bathroom was small. The shower was fine but the toilet and bidet are awkwardly placed.

Parent's double room on the same floor had a shower and a bath tub with a small balcony.

Breakfast was fantastic.

Grocery store, restaurants and colliseum all very close by.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. It is down a little alley, but it is one block from the Colosseum and the Metro. You cannot get around Rome as a tourist without the Metro - the busses are rubbish and the taxis are ripoff merchants - the taxi from the train to the hotel (2 km) tried to charge us €15...

We had several problems with the room but the main problem (the shower) was repaired during our stay (good news for you!) and we got a discount for this. The rooms are small, but here you are paying for location. 24 hr front desk, and a €50 limo to the airport was good too - when you see driving in Rome you will want that Mercedes with 57 airbags when you're going 140 kph on the motorway!

Continental breakfast was OK if limited - I would say this hotel is 3 star as advertised.

Getting around Rome - you can walk to the Colosseum, Forum etc from the hotel easily. Get a Metro for all other sites. Don't bother waiting and working busses out - the Metro is much better and €1 per trip. Just keep an eye on your wallet/handbag.

In Rome tourist books say get away from the main sites if you want to avoid touristy restaurants - I recommend against this as you won't find any unless you know Rome. Suck it up and pay €40-60 for a good meal with a bottle of wine - very tasty! Try to find places that have Italians and don't go anywhere that is empty, has a guy trying to drag you in out front, or only has tourists - anywhere that locals are dining is fantastic! Just around the corner from the hotel on the main street there are 4-5 restaurants that do street dining under cover and they were lovely - probably tourist lovely but that was fine with us. Opposite the Spanish steps there is a narrow lane (1 block away from where all the designer stores are) and 150m down there we found another great place.

Vatican lines were fine at 8.30am but awful around 11am. Go to the Museums first! The queue for St Peter's looks massive but moves fast!

My family and I (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed here in early June 08 for about 4 days for about 270 euro per night. We had one quad room which was a little cramped for the 4 of us, but was completely adequate, clean, with hot water for the shower. Hotel is well maintained and has a nice little roof terrace for enjoying wine in the evening. Breakfast was standard for Europe/Italy, perfectly fine. Hotel location is excellent for the Coloseum/Forum, OK for central rome (e.g., Pantheon), and a little too far from the Vatican, but we still walked everywhere.
Overall, a very nice place to stay.

I stayed in this hotel the last week of May 2008: single room 130 euros per night. My room had no view and was just a bed, a chair and a bathroom. Small tv and closet. But it was clean and totally quiet, and if you love ancient Rome you can't beat the location.
It's across the street from the main entrace to the Roman Forum, tucked away on a quiet cobblestone backstreet off the east side of the Via Fori Imperiali. It's a 4 minute walk north from the Colosseo metro station.
The staff were friendly and professional. Breakfast buffet from 7am to 10 am comes with the room, with boiled eggs and fruit and meats. There is an elevator.
A traditional budget restaurant nearby is Osteria Nerone, up Nero's hill above the Colosseum. Another night I ate at Cafe La Biga, which directly overlooks the Colosseum.
If you don't need anything fancy but just want a safe, simple, clean place to stay I recommend it. I would definitely stay here again, trying to get a slightly nicer looking room. I just hope it doesnt upgrade and turn into some unaffordable boutique hotel!

We chose this hotel due to location to most/all major Rome sites. It is 10-min if that from the Colosseo Metro stop and 2 stops from the Roma Termini train station. This means you are centrally located to all major sites (excluding Vatican however use the Metro if you dont want to walk 30-45min to get there) Some luxury tourists may scoff at its location in a side street and its less than posh front desk but what hides behind it are very nice rooms, clean, slightly small but good for 2-people who arent going to spend more than sleeping hours in it. Also has a mini-bar (semi-stocked) for your own items.

Breakfast consists of breads, meats, fruits, yogurts, cereals and cafes served by very pleasant staff. The front desk staff were helpful and allowed us to practice our Italian - albeit very limited. I never felt the staff was demeaning or against us as Americans (we live in Eu. though)

The rooftop garden (patio really) needs to be requested access at the front desk to open the rain doors. Its a nice pleasant and relatively quiet place to be from the hub-bub below.

Most hotels in the 'inner ring' of Roma will be expensive but this one fit our budget and we'd choose it again.
