“Trajan's Markets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I visited Trajan's Markets with family in April. Unfortunately we only viewed it from the outside on a short detour whilst walking down Via dei Fori Imperiali. It is interesting to view and provides a nice photo opportunity. If I ever visit Rome again I hope to visit inside.

“Immense history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Well worth a visit, especially if you have even a passing interest in history. Would recommend getting a guided tour as there is minimal signage and without a tour it's hard to know what is what.

The imperial forum is at the center of some epic events in european and world history so it must be worth a visit.

“Awe inspiring”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We had a tour that included commentary on this area. Even if you can't afford a tour you should still visit and walk around on both sides. It is amazing what is left after all these years. Watch out for the gypsies.

“Overpriced, under delivers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012 via mobile

The best bits of this attraction can be seen from outside - you can see the ancient roman shopping street over the railings to the right of the entrance, and you get a better sense of the semicircular terraces from street level next to Trajan's Column. The rather pricey €11 entry fee allows you to walk on bits if the structure, but you learn little more from the turgid and poorly written panels which are usually located some distance from the features they are attempting to describe, leaving you none the wiser. You can also see a rather disappointing display of fragments found during excavations, which do not compare with what can be seen for free on the streets of Rome. Really, just walk round the outside with your guidebook, don't bother going in.

“Get a guided book and you'll be amazed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The Roman Forums were the centre of Ancient Rome and it's a great place still today (the best preserved is the Trajan's, which is situated very close to the Roman Forum, the most important of all.
