Several visits - December 2006 this time.I can only comment on the metro service. If you don't buy a Roma Pass e18 which gives you three days travel as well as entrance to exhibits etc. ,you can easilly buy travel tickets -length to suit your stay , from station machines ,all in the the language choice of your own country. It is inexpensive to use .There are blue and red lines, with stops at all the main tourist sites. On a quick visit it makes getting about fast and easy peasy. The entrance machine validates your ticket and returns it to you. There are boards at all stations. You simply check your stop look for the last name on the line(2 choices of direction) and head for the platform of that name. It's fairly idiotproof.DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE GRAFFITTI.The metro trains run every few minutes, and it doesn't matter if its standing room only, no stop is that far. We've safely used this service endlessly at all times of day and later evening too. Some stops do not have escalators.Rome generally is not disabled friendly.
