“atmospheric with a real sense of its 2nd century foundations”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2014 NEW

The mosaics in the entrance illustrate the great age of this amazing church. With a decorated ceiling and with Romanesque windows and arches one can easily feel the history of the floor plan which dates back to 340AD.....so cool! As with most churches in Rome you are expected to respect the space and have covered shoulders and legs. The high platform is able to be illuminated by putting a small sum in to the timed light controller on the left hand side stairs. If you are lucky enough to be staying in this historic area of narrow streets and piazzas, this church is well worth a visit.

“Nip In and Be Wowed if You Are in the Neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2014 NEW

With all the supremely ornate, over-the-top, overcrowded cathedrals in Rome, it's always a pleasure and a surprise to stumble on a place of worship that actually feels spiritual. I actually liked this church more than most others. No crowds. Absolutely gorgeous art. We lingered and lingered.

“Roman church...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2014 NEW

Always beautiful to see a Roman church! This one is in the middle of the Trastevere area, so a perfect break from all the restaurants, bars and shops. Worth a quick look at the artwork and architecture, all Roman churches are though!

“A beautiful little gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2014

Stumbled across this little gem while heading to meet up with friends for dinner. Very beautiful interior & pretty exterior. Love all the gold mosaic- reminds me of Cefalu'. Looks amazing when everything is all lit up at night.

“Beautiful (first) church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2014

Mesmerizing place, also if you are not religious. Do not forget to carry euro coins, as in all important churches in Rome you have to use money to switch on the light inside.
