“Captivating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

Well worth the time and once again the atmosphere, the architecture, the frescos.... The list goes on to fascinate you. The age of the building and how it has survived makes you wonder.

“Pretty church in cosy neighbourhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

Not that big of a church in comparisation with other churches in Rome, but probably one of the prettiest. Very impressive gold dome. It's in one of the cosiest nieghbourhoods of Rome. So you can combine it with lunch/diner nearby.

“Visit Catherine of Siena”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

This is a gem of a church, but not very well known. You know you're at the right place when you see the elephant with the obelisk on its back. Close to the Pantheon.
The Church is a little difficult to navigate for the art, but contains the relics of both Catherine of Siena and Fra Angelico. Both Dominicans, since this is a Dominican church.
Certainly worth visiting. Sometimes seems dark.

“A Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We visited 10 churches in 2 days and although this was not one of the prettiest churches, it Has to be visited for the following: 30 rosette windows (the most I have seen in any church), 1 Diocletian and 2 gothic stained glass windows. Many ornate pedimented, tabernacle encased paintings and sculptures. The piece de resistance was the Bernini 6x15 marble cartouche embellished with gold and sculptures of putti, cross, and Mary, mother of Christ attached to a marble column.

“Plain outside; stunning on the inside.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Quite a contrast; plain exterior, stunning interior. It is very close to the rear of the Pantheon so well worth a few extra steps to have a look .... though that can be said of all the churches in Rome; they all have something to offer. Maria Sopra is a definite must if time is limited and this is the area of Rome you are staying in.
