“Terribly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

The only advantage of this hotel is its location close to the train station and the staff friendly.
The rest was terrible: from the elevator, which was built in the 18th century and since then without repair, dirty stairs, dirty corridor, dirty room, dirty bathroom (with one's hair). Thank God the bed was fresh, but the towels were threadbare, no shampoo in the bathroom.
The room and bathroom was very small.
My wife and I were terribly disappointed.

We only spent one night at this nice place, but it was a pleasant stay. the room was nice and clean, the shower was ok and we had ac and a balcony. Except for the pretty high price it was a good bargin (mind you that all rome is unreasonably expansive). The service buy Samy and Claudio was very kind and helpfull. Recomended!

Room Tip: Some rooms have AC and some don't

The day before my arrival at Hotel Indipendenza, my husband and my plans changed which resulted in us needing to arrive one day later than we had booked for. We were well beyond the cancellation policy, but I emailed the hotel to let them know of our late arrival. I received a quick response from the manager, Cristiano, telling me that our late arrival would not be a problem and that he updated my reservation without penalty.
In addition, upon our arrival to the hotel, I asked the Cristiano about our reservation to the Vatican (I had received a payment confirmation but no tickets and wasn't sure how to go about getting them). Without hesitation, he asked me to forward him the email and within seconds was on the phone with the Vatican trying to sort out our tickets. Well, he did and within about 15 minutes he had not only received them via email but printed them out and gave them to me with a map of how to get to the correct entrance from the hotel.
The rooms are clean, it's in a great location, and the service is excellent. Definitely a great value.

The hotel was a bit hard to find with no street side signs and it being 5 floors up, but the room and bathroom were clean, staff were friendly and seemed to be in a good location for tourists with hop on hop off bus 2min walk away and also plenty of good places to eat all around.

Stayed here for one night, as a family of four. We had booked approx 3 weeks prior to arrival, but when we arrived, was asked if would could change from a family room to 2 twin rooms for the same price. The man on reception described it as an upgrade, I am not sure if I would have called it that (!). A slight disappointment but not too much of a problem, except all clothes and toileteries were together, so a little in convienient.

Like lots of hotels near the station it is in an appartment block occupying a single floor, in this case the 5th floor, via a decrepid lift.

The rooms were quite small but reasonably clean. Bed not very comfortable narrow. There was no airconditioning but a large table fan to help cool the room.

The people on reception were friendly and reasonably knowledgable.

Breakfast (a hot drink with a cake or croissant) was served, via a voucher, in a caffe a few minutes walk away.

Not a bad stay and would stay here again if necessary but would probably look elsewhere as first choice.

For a budget hotel this is pretty damn great! It was incredibly clean and comfortable with a convenient location 1 minute away from Termini Station and walking distance to the Colosseum. Cristiano, the manager, was as good as any five-star hotel concierge: mapping out our route every day, recommending authentic, delicious restaurants and helping us with tips and tricks for how to get around. We're headed back to Rome in a few weeks and will definitely be returning here.

The hotel has one star but it was clean and it had everything I needed during my 3-nights stay in Rome. It has air-condition, even some little soap in the bathroom, the room was cleaned everyday. The staff from the reception was extremely helpful, they gave us maps of the city explained how to get everywhere etc. The location is really good, 20 minutes walk from Colloseo and the ancient city. Donwstairs there's a little cheap bar You can have breakfast in full of italians and authentic italian atmosphere. GREAT CHOICE!
