I had a problem with the taxi driver & asked the desk clerk to mediate. After driver left, clerk said I really owed driver more money but hotels & taxis are having a dispute so clerk wouldn't help driver! The room was modest size. The bathroom floor was never washed for 3 days, nor was the bath surround wiped down. I found item ffrom previous guest under the bed so I assume the room was not totally vacuumed. The hotel is a 15 or 20 minute walk to Metro, & it is uphill on the way back. Breakfast buffet was very good. Internet access was expensive. 15 minute walk to closest Internet cafe.

I started a month long vacation in Rome with my wife. This hotel was nice. The room and bathroom were clean but relatively small. The neighborhood was great and safe but be careful of the strong tourist element that exists on via venetto. Hotel Ludovisi's proximity to many landmarks is another plus. The staff was helpful and nice. Not the most bang for your buck, but thats what you get with an extremely weak U.S. dollar.

Stayed for 2 nights for a business trip.
Hall and common spacess very small and poor
Room was too small with a nice decor; bathroom ok
BIG PROBLEM: no mobile phone line!!!!! I had to go out in the street for making phone calls
Breakfast service awful for a 4 star hotel. Room too small and bad food, ok for 2/3 stars hotel
Anyway, payed 120 € and this price is good for a property located in that area (100 metres from via Veneto), but just for the location, not for for the service.

Apr 28, 2008 | Trip type: Family

We have relocated to Rome, and whilst awaiting our new home to be ready, we stayed at this hotel, my family consisted of my self, my wife and three children ranging from 7 - 14, the staff were great, the porter carried or 8 cases to the rooms, the room are not huge as is the room rate, and we stayed for 7 days, breakfast was tasty, and location brilliant, with everything in walking distance, the coloseum was 30 mins walk from the hotel.

it was clean and tidy, excellent for a mini break or long term we have stayed at the hotel next door the Eden which was lovley with breakfast at 45 euros a head, and afternoon tea for 35 euros a head, and the Ludovisi would be my choice, a real family atmosphere. go for it ......

  • Liked — Location and friendliness
  • Disliked — rooms a little to small, but room rate reflects this .....but you only sleep in it dont you !!!!

Stayed at the Ludovisi with a Globus tour group. We checked in a day early. The staff was extremely helpful in particular Alesandro. He gave directions to the subway station, and explained how to get around. It was lunch time and he recommended a great local restaurant.
The next day it was raining and the staff suggested we got to the Capital museum which is near the Forum. After the museum it had stopped raining and just a short walk to the Forum and Colisseum. A subway station is just accross the street so an easy cheap trip back to the hotel.
The room was small but very comforable. Clean bathroom and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of meats, cheeses, sweets, eggs (Italians do not do eggs well, very runny scrambled eggs but that was the same at every hotel).
Excellent location, only minutes from Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Villa Borghese, and the American Embassy. Subway station is very close. Everything is downhill though, Rome is very hilly, seven of them. Good reasonable restaurants around but stay away from the Via Venetto area, near the American Embassy as it is expensive.
We enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay at the Ludovisi Palace again.
