Just returned from 4 nights at the Apollo Hotel in Rome. For a short stay, the location is perfect for walking to the primary tourist sites (we took the subway once - going to the Vatican, walked back). The neighborhood was great, a number of choices for restaurants and a few bars nearby, quiet side street, very safe.
Our room on the 3rd floor (US 4th) was average size, with two windows looking out to the street and St. Agathas Church. There was a minibar (which we used to store our own drinks) and a safe. The bathroom was fine. Everything was very clean.
The owner and his son were always friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good (fruit, pastries, cereals, cheeses, etc.). It was served on the roof garden, which was a nice place to start the day.
It's an easy walk to the Terminal (about 15 minutes), but I would be hesitant about dragging too much baggage that far. Like most of Rome, there isn't much in the way of sidwalks on the smaller side streets, and the main streets (Cavour & Nationale) will take a little longer.
We arranged for an airport pickup through Rome Shuttle Limousine (40 e). A driver was waiting for us on arrival and got us right over to the hotel.
