The location was perfect for visiting the Vatican, though the small crumbling alley that led to the hotel might make one nervous upon returning to the hotel at night. Our accomodations were quite adequate but the room was dark and the decor not very attractive. The bathroom was modern and kept very clean though and we were provided with plenty of towels. The breakfast which was included was fine and available in a very nice dining room. The staff were courteous and it was very pleasant to have our coffee and tea served to us in the morning. Overall I would have to say that given the expense of accomodations in Rome, this hotel was fine but not exceptional.

Just back from a six day break in Rome. The hotel Rovere we found was in a good location. Round the corner from the Vatican (5 mins) Piazza Navona (10 mins) don't buy a drink from the bars on Pza Navona nearly died. Roem is very walkable the only place we caught a bus to was the Catacombs. Anyway back to the Hotel. The staff were very courteous, some spoken English. The room was adequate, afterall you don't spend a lot of time in there. We had the standard double. Bed was a little hard and was 2 singles pushed together. T.V. is all Italian only english channel is CNN. Bathroom was large. Wife was disappointed because it only had a shower and not a bath!! Safety deposit box in the room was free which was a good thing. View from our room was not good (other houses) but you expect this in Rome. Found that there was no ventilation in the room so sometimes stuffy. Too many mosquitos to have the window open at night as we found out. Breakfast was adquate. rolls, croissants preserves, boiled eggs done at 7.00 so cold by 9.30! cold meat, cake so good choice.
Get the younger guy to make your cappuccino, his is the best. Try not to ask the hotel to arrange taxi transfers. From Ciampino Airport we got a taxi to the hotel and it cost us 40 euros (price negotiated before we got in).
The hotel arranged a taxi for us to the airport and it cost 60 euros!! Restaurant round the Corner Sor'ema is good. Taverna Guilia across the bridge and a little further is rubbish. Try Anticca Trattoria Polese. Across the bridge keep walking past the bus station past a church set back on your right you will come to a small square it is along the back of the square. We ate here 3 times and were never disappointed. On the way to this restaurant there is a supermarket so get your water and snacks from here. Would I stay at the Hotel Rovere again Yes. Its not cheap but neither is Rome.

We stayed in La Rovere for 5 nights and were very pleased with our overall stay. The location is within walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza Navona and the Trastevere area.

The room was small, we upgraded to a deluxe room with terrace, it was expensive (€150+ p.n) but the terrace was spacious and well maintained. Air conditioning was optional but was surprisingly unneccessary.

Room was clean and bathroom was large, cleaned thoroughly daily, small shower cubicle though. Safe in room and a minibar, plenty of storage. Small lift to all floors.

Quiet, off a cobbled street, surrounded by private houses and apartments. Transfers from airport to and from hotel were arranged by staff, €60 each way so it is steep, airport was about half an hour away by mad italian taxi! (nerves of steel required)

Good broad range of breakfast included in room price, buffet style, rolls, cheese, yogurt, cereal, fruit etc.

Nearest eating out area was the Trastevere area, reception was open through the night for late nighters. No bar or restaurant within the hotel.

Attentive and pleasant staff (unlike many restaurants!) We would certainly recommend this hotel as a good place to stay.

We stayed at La Rovere for 3 nights. It is in a very quiet and central location in Rome. The staff was extremely friendly and our triple room was quite large with a clean bathroom. We had a private balcony and although the view was nothing special, we enjoyed sitting out there after a long day of sightseeing and walking, with a nice bottle of wine to feel the evening breeze in this magnificent city. The hotel is in an excellent location. The Vatican was a mere 5 minutes away, Piazza Narbona and the Pantheon 10 minutes away, the Colisseum and Forum 20 minutes away, Trastevere is 15 minutes away and Via Veneto was the farthest (NOT within walking distance!). Unlike other cities in Italy, Rome is not an easy city to walk since it's very spread out but if you choose to, this is a great location to start your walking tours. However, I recommend taking advantage of the metro and taxis as we were so exhausted after our third day in Rome.
