“My Home in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Just spent one week at La Rovere and felt like I was staying with family because the Gallo family, which owns and runs La Rovere, treats its guests like members of their family. La Rovere provides its guests with clean, comfortable basic accommodations close to the Vatican, the historic center of Rome and Trastevere. The only negatives I can think of are that the showers are small by American stsndards and the hotel is set back from the main piazza making it hard for taxis to come and go. Have stayed here many times in the past and will do so again.

La rovere is definitively not the fascinating or luxurious hotel, that's for sure. La rovere is an sober and elegant hotel, small and very clean, in a great location and a place to sleep well (nearby there's no rumors, no traffic madness, no late night drunkards). Just one advice: if you are coming in Rome with your car, leave it somewhere else and take a taxi to arrive in a La rovere, not just because there's no parking place, but much more because you will find out that it's almost impossible to make a manoeuvre from via di Sant'Onofrio into Vicolo di Sant'Onofrio; better leave it to the professional

Very helpful and kind staff, excellent location (5 minutes' walk to Vatican, 10 minutes to the city center). The breakfast was tasty and filling, with lots of fresh fruit and excellent cappuccinos. The room was clean and quiet.

Hotel La Rovere is a Hotel in a very good location, closed to Vatican and to Trastevere. All the receptionists were very helpful and polite, although they didn't speek English at all. The room for three persons (mother and two children, 8 and 11 years old) was big enough, clean, with renovated bathroom, nice view, no noice from outside. The breakfast was sufficient. The price of the Hotel was ok for the quality. We liked the decoration of the Hotel with old furnitures and nice gravoures from ancient Rom everywhere.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I had visited Rome for our very first time (in fact our first time in Italy) and I had left finding accommodations in his hands with somewhat of a guideline budget. He had booked La Rovere which came in under our budget, it was in the best location (just a 10 min walk to Trastevere and 10 min walk to the Vatican). Our stay was just a wonderful experience!! Wifi and breakfast was included which, when we go back to Italy again, those are two must-have requirements. Breakfast was delicious and had everything we required to start off our day energized!!! The best prosciutto and other meats, fresh fruits, yogurts, delicious pastries, Nutella, and espressos or cappuccinos!! The place was extremely clean, everyone was so friendly, and even with a little bit of a language barrier, they went out of their way to answer all our questions or google things on the computer for us!! With their help, once we had finished our touring for the day, we definately got to try some fabulous local restaurants, found some great chocolate shops, tiramisu, the greatest coffee, etc. We will definately be back to Rome and La Rovere. We would recommend La Rovere to friends, family, and anyone who is looking for an overall hospitable and great experience! Thank you!

This is the second time we have stayed at the
Hotel La Rovere in the past 12 months We decided to return to Rome in 2012 and we also decided to stay at the Hotel La Rovere once again. As before we had a wonderful experience. The rooms were impeccably clean, the staff was warm, friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend this gem within walking distance to the Vatican, Trastevere, Piazza Navona, Trevino Fountain, ...etc.

Room Tip: rooms with the private terraces are wonderful
