“A Perfect B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

This was our family's first trip to Rome. We stayed at B&B La Duchessa A Roma for 9 nights and enjoyed it very much to the last minutes. It was more like staying in a friend's place. Marco and Daniela took very good care of us. In the early morning, when they came in to set the breakfast, they even closed the kitchen door so that the noise would not disturb us.The bedrooms were bright, colorful, and very clean. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with cold cuts, cheese, breads, different kinds of preserves, fresh fruits, fresh baked pastry, and many more. Daniela made great capuccino for my husband and I, while the girls'd got hot chocolates.
Daniela knew the city well and she gave us detailed directions to make sure that we got to our destination. We did fine, except never made it to MoMo! I will stay there again. Thank you Marco and Daniela.

Stayed there for 6 nights in early November.
To say that Daniella and Marco offered us friendly service would be a major understatement. They bent over backwards to make our stay unforgettable.
Not only did we enjoy the room, the paintings that hung all around the place like a lovely art gallery, the delicious breakfast (cakes, toasts, biscuits, a dozen different kinds of marmelades, at least half a dozen different juices and yogurts, actual Italian coffee for breakfast, etc.) but after a few days it really felt like having breakfast with friends in the morning...
Daniella and Marco offered great insightful advice on everything we wanted to do to explore Rome.
All the places they recommended, from dinner at MoMo's to coffee at St Eustacio Café, were great.
I should also mention that the bed is real comfy, that you have a balcony overlooking Trastevere, that there is sky tv in room with movies in English and channels in just about every language you can think of, that it is squeaky clean, that you can have breakfast on the terrace if you feel like it, but all this is nothing compared to the level of service we enjoyed there: coming from Venice we ran out of clothes after a few days, Daniella took care of that with a smile, we arrived late due to a delayed train from Venice, Marco offered to come and pick us up at the station, etc, etc, I could keep mentioning such examples. These are truly exceptionnal hosts.
What's more there are just 3 rooms in the b&b but to my knowledge they really rent out 2, making the single room available to families should they need an extra bed. To put things more clearly, there is one double room with a double bed, a triple room (double bed +single bed) and an additional single room for your grumpy teenager for example if you"re staying in the double.
The tram stop is a 3min walk away and in less than 20min you're at Area Sacrea, just next to Vittorio Emanuele. At around 100€ / night, it is great value for Rome. Friends of ours stayed downtown for 140€ / a night for a quadruple room in a basement with no service whatsoever and no tv, and talking with them it was clear who had got the best deal in town between us.
So, to put it in a nutshell: just go, it's a lovely b&b and Marco and Daniella are amazing. You will have a great time, no doubt!

Daniela and Marco provide a wonderful 'home away from home' in the suburbs of Rome. A relatively short tram ride from all the tourist action, but in a quiet residential area. The rooms are beautifully presented, comfortable and very clean. Daniela and Marco will provide you with as much tourist information as you need, book restaurants and museum visits if required, and generally pre-empt your every touristy need. The view from the balcony is wonderful, too.
If you are looking for a great hosted B&B in Rome, do not hesitate to get in touch with this wonderful couple. They will look after you.

Room Tip: The B&B can accommodate a maximum of 6 people in 3 rooms - a single, a queen and a triple (queen...

The BEST B&B in Rome, no doubt!

We can't speak highly enough of Daniela and Marco's hospitality - they are two of the most charming and infectious people you could wish to meet and shower you with kindness from the moment you arrive.

It's no surprise that they've got the recipe for the perfect B&B spot on. There's not a detail missed or left to chance - everything about B&B La Duchessa is just spot on.

The location, on the outskirts of the city is wonderful, with a brilliant array of local restaurants offering truly delectable Italian food (particular mention should go to Trattoria del Pesce). It couldn't be easier to get into the heart of the city, with a quick 15 minute tram journey. I have to say, it's nice to be able to escape the chaos of the city in this lovely neighborhood each evening and yet never be far from the action.

The rooms are lovely, spacious and scrupulously clean. The beds are comfortable. Air conditioning, double glazing and blackout blinds ensure you'll sleep perfectly.

Breakfasts are plentiful and delicious...Marco's speciality 'Toast Marco' is a "must have".

The terrace is the perfect place to relax after an action-packed day storming the streets of Rome and who better for company that Daniela and Marco!

The B&B is perfect and there's nothing more you could ask for. But what really makes B&B La Duchessa is Daniela and Marco's hospitality - you'll be hard pushed to meet two more lovely people, they made our stay in Rome and we'll certainly be returning to see them again as much as the city itself - "Thank you Daniela and Marco for ensuring our stay was unforgettable.....and thank you for parking our car Marco!"

"See Rome...and stay at B&B La Duchessa...and die!"

Room Tip: You can't go wrong at this B&B...

I have been traveling around the world, and I have been to many great places.
Rome is definitely in my top 5 place to be.
This vacation turned out to be one of my best ever, with the help of Daniela
And Marco. Their host beats the ones I got in hotels around the world.
They care, and they help, and they are simply the best :)
I can't wait to get back.
Salute!

I agree completely with everything that has been said about this place. Daniela and Marco are truly wonderful, gracious hosts. They have a genuine gift for hospitality, and we felt like we were staying at a friend's home. Enjoyed the breakfast conversations every morning on the beautiful porch. Also a fridge stocked with juices, snacks and beverages! Rooms are spotless and the location is an easy 15-20 minute tram ride into the center. Infact, we enjoyed exploring various neighborhood restaurants in this area including Osteria Monteverde and Cesare.
If you are looking for a great experience in a lovely, local neighborhood, you will love it.

Room Tip: All rooms are beautiful with tasteful artwork. They rent out two rooms at a time, so that each can h...

We cannot say enough about La Duchessa! Daniela and Marco were very warm and welcoming! CLEAN!!! COMFORTABLE!!! Wonderful breakfast!! Delicious cappuccino!! Extremely helpful and so friendly, yet not smothering. We were in Italy for our 25th Anniversary and this was our first stop on our two week romantic adventure. Our kids (ages 23 and 20) joined us for Rome and Venice but we had booked their trip later so there were no rooms available at La Duchessa. Daniela recommended a nearby hotel (literally right around the corner) for them, but insisted they join us for breakfast each morning so we could be together as a family. So sweet and considerate! We had lovely conversation ( they speak good English) and good times with both Daniela and Marco each morning. As others have noted, they are minutes from the tram that takes you into the center (15 minutes) and are located in the Trastevere district in a quiet neighborhood. Daniela was really great at making reservations at a nearby DELICIOUS restaurant and also offered to book our Vatican tour, but I had already done that prior to our arrival. The entire B&B is extremely clean and the rooftop setting is a fantastic start and end to a busy day in Roma! In addition, they went above and beyond for us because we realized we left our good headphones in a drawer after we were half way to Venice! I contacted her via email and told her where we were staying in Tuscany and she arranged sending them there so when we arrived so did our headphones! We cannot say enough about La Duchessa and Daniela and Marco! Thank you for a wonderful start to our romantic adventure!
