A really nice hotel, don´t know if I just had luck to get that nice room I got. But is hard to understand that this nice hotel only have 3 stars. If you look at it overall-then yes I can see why the hotel only has 3 stars.
They don´t have laundry services (but there is several around the hotel), or room services-which is some of the needs to be ranked at a 4 stars hotel.
But the rooms (or my singel room) are really nice and beatiful. (the standars are high at this hotel!!) And clean too! The bathroom with marmor floor felt new and fresh, well in fact the whole hotels marmor floor felt new. They sure know how to clean there. Many hotels have nice decorations, beutiful designs and so on...but unfortely not all hotels seams to prioritate cleaning.

The staff are even they really nice. Many people in Italy (or rome any way)are bad at english, and sometimes it can be hard to try to communicate with them. But this staff are good at english, and they are very helpful. I tried to find any mailbox to post my postcards, and asked several people near the termini station where I could post my postcards. But know one could tell me (not even the policemen I asked) - because no one I asked knew a single word on english.
So I went back to the hotel, and they told me how the postboxes looked like, and where I could find them. (hehe, yeah I know-stupid of me not to find the red mailboxes that was all around the station termini- but my point is-the people in rome are terrible at english, so it´s a good idea to stay at a hotel there they know english)

And no - people working at hotels in rome don´t necessarily speak english. I believe I tryed to book rooms in 4 other hotels, but not one of the staff at these hotels could english. They tried to mix some english words with italian - which is nice, I mean they really tried. But in a city that I had never been before, It felt important to have someone that knew the area that I could talk to.
of course - you could always talk to the turist information...if you have time and don´t bother to have to stand in line for a while...

This is a nice hotel - definitely worth the money! I don´t believe any one that is looking for a 3 stars hotel are going to be disappointed at this hotel and its staff.

When I get back to rome (and I will beacuse I throw a coint fontana di trevi...) I will definitely come back to this nice hotel...

The Hotel Contilia has an excellant location 2 blocks from the Rome Termini train station. The room was wallpapered in damask. The room was spotlessly clean, large and comfortable.
Continenal breakfast was good with croissants, juice, cereal, coffee and more. I felt safe in the area which has greatly improved in the last several years. Being two blocks from the metro made getting around Rome very easy. I will stay there again.

we didn't book hotel in Rome and tried to find hotel themself near from termini railway station. there are a lot of hotels from 1 to 4 stars in each bilding. We suggested that this hotel was with good price (3 stars, double room 70 euro). the breakfest is normal and romm is nice.

This is a great hotel and reasonably priced. it is a good location, walkable to sights and the train station. The rooms are newly renovated and quite spacious for the area. Ask for room 301, it's a suite, with a jacuzzi and double sinks. The front staff is kind, courteous, helpful. Breakfast is quite good, cereals, pastries, meats, cheese, coffee, tea, etc.

There are many quaint bars, cafes, in the locale, and 2 grocery stores within a block for stocking up on snacks, wine etc.

Do be aware of pick pockets in the area of the train station. You can take the train from the airport, walk a block and you're at the hotel.

Booked via Priceline and was given this hotel . Prepaid in USD which helped quite a bit since the dollar is so low to the Euro. We paid $102 usd per night for a 3 night stay( including tax and fees). What a bargain compared to what others were charging. We were surprised how much we liked this place. Given a quiet room on the 5th floor. Two twin beds in a nice size room, very high ceiling, big bathrom with a step in shower. Small tv with Cnn and Bbc and various italian channels, mini fridge. The room was stuffy and the ac wasn't working so we just opened the window which overlooked a courtyard with other apartments overlooking it. What wonderful smells of pasta sauces cooking. Gets nosiy after 9am. Breakfast was included in the price and was good. Coffee, tea, pastries, rolls with cold cuts and cheese, juice. This hotel is on the "good" side of the train station. Would stay here again, even if we had to pay the rack rate.

  • Liked — Big room for Europe
  • Disliked — ac didn't work
