This was a wonderful surprise. We booked on the basis of location and economy and were bowled over by the wonderful welcome that we received. All staff were unfailingly charming and attentive. Breakfasting on the rooftop terrace was delightful. The room was comfortable, the airconditioning was extremely efficient (our stay coincided with a heatwave) and we were not bothered by any noise from outside. We would definitely stay at the Madrid on our next visit to Rome.

What a great hotel. Perfect location,friendly and helpful staff,spotless rooms. Our room was on the fourth floor and we couldnt hear a thing from outside, no traffic noise, no music, nothing. The room was of a high standard better than some 5 star London hotels we have stayed in. The breakfast at the roof top restaurant was excellent and the view over the city to be enjoyed whilst having great coffee was a joy. Everything we wanted to see was in easy walking distance with the trevi and the spanish steps just a few minutes walk away. We believe you would find it hard to find a better place to stay in Rome

When traveling I always use TripAdvisor for Hotel and Attraction recommends. This is the first time the reviews of TripAdvisor let me down. The hotel was ok but not what I expected based on the reviews. Biggest complaint was the noise factor - noise from the hotel and bar next door and from the rooms next door. The breakfast was nice and being next to the Metro was very good - just 2 stops to the Central Train Station. Hotel was about 20-30 walk to both Vatican and Colosseum so I did a lot walking. 20/20 hindsight, not sure which is the best location for hotel in Rome, but I think the hotel is over-priced. Hotel staff was great so no complaints with the service. The free Wifi was only in the hotel lobby and not in the rooms - it worked the first night but not my other 3 nights.

We chose this hotel based on a recommendation from a friend, and we were not disappointed. The location is near the Spanish Steps, metro, American Express office and Borghese Gardens. The rooms were spotless, roomy, quiet and comfortable. We had a quad and a double. Breakfast on the enclosed rooftop terrace was lovely. Hotel staff was friendly and accomodating.
