“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

My husband and I recently stayed at the Madrid. The staff was wonderful, very accomodating and friendly. The location is perfect! I do think the rooms could be updated. Our room was quite small for the price.

Very clean, Friendly and helpful staff. My wallet had been stolen at the main train station and the hotel staff was extremely helpful making phone calls and relaying information.
We walked everywhere.
We did have some trouble finding this hotel so I would definitely take a cab.

Just spent four days as a guest at the Hotel Madrid just a short walk from the Spanish Steps. My room was excellent, very comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The staff was very friendly and always very helpful. Great roof-top breakfast room with excellent breakfast selections. I would highly recommend the Hotel Madrid to anyone visiting Rome. This was my first visit to Italy and the experience was definitely enhanced by my choice of hotels. Great location with the Spagna Metro station close by and many major attractions within walking distance. I am very happy with my choice of this hotel for my stay in Rome.

In a good place and generally quiet. Was noisy on Sunday night from the night club at the end of the road I assume. This was not a problem on any other night.

Room very bland with no carpet and did smell musty until we had the windows open for a while. Bathroom fine though. The heating did not appear to come on in the bathroom which made it a little cold in there. Ok if you stood on the mat. Couldn't work the air conditioning in the bedroom but didn't ask about it either. Bed comfortable. Bathroom fully serviced every day. Breakfast taken up on the roof area with lovely views. Breakfast only ok with the usual cake type things and some cold meats and cheese too. Cereals. The muesli was nice so I had that. The scrambled egg and bacon and boiled eggs were kept in the usual metal covered tray. Awful. We managed. Teas and coffees available and a helpful waitress on hand who remembered that I liked cold milk with my tea. Some confusion on the first morning as Italian for hot is caldo.

We were moved across the corridor to another room for our last night because of a fault with the loo. We had to start again with the airing. The air conditioning worked though so we could warm up again. This was a family room with 3 extra beds, 2 being in an ante room. The bathroom seemed like an afterthought with a second rate shower though the water hot. We preferred the other room

A well priced hotel. We paid about £117 a night for 5 nights so reasonably priced. So you have to put up with little irritations as above. Might try the Homs next time which is 2 doors away.

Room Tip: You could try one at the back if staying on a Sunday night.

This is a repeat visit to the Hotel Madrid (several times). We love the location (near the Spanish Steps) and walking distance to most of the sights in Rome. (Vatican & Coloseum by subway quite easily.) Check in staff is very helpful, rooms are generous (by European standards) and clean (especially the bathrooms.) Free WiFi if you book on-line or 5 EU otherwise. Breakfast is in the penthouse dining area with great views our. Breakfast is very good. Price is reasonable for a big city hotel in a good location (varies by season.)

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have less street noise. Free WiFi if you book on-line directly.

We spent four night in hotel Madrid. The location was excellent, especially since we had our kids with us. It's near to all major locations, and also the metro station is close by.

The hotel is quite normal, and not a disappointment. Rooms are clean. Staff is helpful. The breakfast room in the top floor is nice and something different.

The bid negative part is the noise that you hear from the streets. Even though it's not the busiest road, you still hear a lot of noise if you have your room on that side.

I still recommend this if this price range is what you're looking for.

Room Tip: Not from the street side if possible

Dear guest,
thank you for your lovely review and thank you for taking time to write your impressions about our hotel.
We are glad that you have been well .
sorry to have been bothered by the noise from the street, we are in the heart of the historical center of Rome in the Spanish Steps area, here you can find the most popular shops, bar and restaurants, however, for this reason in our rooms are available excellent double glazed windows.
You are always welcome to come back when visiting Rome.
Best wishes from all our staff!!!
