My husband and I enjoyed 6 nights at the Fontana room 306 mid October 08. I feel 277 Euros was expensive but this was a dream holiday, how much is that worth? I choose the hotel for the view and the absolute central location. Fountain is moderately loud so if you may find it difficult to sleep if you are used to sleeping with no background noise. Personally the sound of the fountain and the happy crowds below added to the entire experience. Breakfast was very pleasant. The lift is tiny. We nearly always walked the three flights of stairs which are steep but think of the health benefits! I cant imagine staying anywhere else now but the cost hurts.

They used the excuse that there was water damage in one of the rooms and had to move those guest into our room. We requested a special room for our 25th and had made the reservations 4 months in advance..We were told it is a "small room" but that we look like such a romantic couple, that it would be perfect for us. This room was #307. The room was smaller than a bathroom suite we just had in Tuscany!!! We did everything not to be in that room other than to sleep for the night and get the heck out of there in the morning. The bathoom smelled of shower curtain mildew, the air conditioner leaked so bad we put water glasses out to catch the drips. Naturally we did not sleep because we kept hearing the drips. The bedspread was so thin, it looked like it was 20 years old. It felt like we were given the servants quarters. Needless to say, when they said they would "accommodate" the price, it was for the single room at full price of 200 Euro. The staff was rude when we checked out. They got our money, they really did not care. No taxi service can make it to the front of the hotel because of all the people traffic for the Fountain. Be prepared to walk with your luggage for about a block. Take our advise, there are better hotels out there for your hard earned money!!!

We tried contacting Public Relations at Hotel Fontana about this and have been ignored.

we (a couple in the 40s) have been staying in this hotel for 5 nights. the hotel is in small building which was once (17th century) a monastry; it is located just opposite of the famous Fontana di Trevi. the hotel itself is absolutely romantic, and so is the location. We really loved our room with a view on the fountain. It has been the most romantic stay of our life!

Of course, you have to be prepared for such a building and such a location. If you are looking for the comfort and luxury of a modern hotel within this price category, then this is not your place. The floors are old, and hence, uneven. The walls and the windows belong to a building of the 17th century. The noise coming through the window day and night is that of the fontana fountain, sounding like the ocean, and that of a a crowd of happy and friendly people enjoying the atmosphere. It was so tremendously beautiful.

We loved this special hotel. It is a small, quirky and slightly shabby hotel right in front of the Trevi Fountain but it was wonderful. If you want luxury do not stay here. If you want atmosphere in a unique Italian Hotel this is the place for you. I will be back.

All I have to say is that this hotel was completely disturbing. We arrived at the hotel which was directly overlooking the Trevi Fountain. The font desk had what seemed to be an 80 year old lady bring our bags up in the 1 person elevator. I would have done it myself, but before I realized, the bags where on their way up (one at time).

When we got to our room, we noticed a funny odor - and every time we walked into the bathroom, we would become light-headed and have to quickly sit down. Inside the actual room was no different, aside from the incredible noise coming from people below visiting the Trevi Fountain, the floors were so uneven, you could actually see the wardrobe tilting! And when you lie on the bed, you roll to the edge!!! Without even unzipping a suitcase, I was on the phone booking another hotel - Hotel Ciccarone - an excellent choice I might add.

We did try to get our money back (even offered to pay the 1st night) but since we had paid in advance for 3 nights, the manager refused to refund our money. We didn’t care - the most important thing was to get out of there!!! And that we did!!!
