I stayed at the Hotel Due Torri for 3 nights in May 2009 and, overall, had a very nice stay.

The hotel is located on a very quiet street not far from the Piazza Navona. There is a cute street just a block away that has some nice restaurants and popular places like the Spanish Steps are a short walk away.

My room was tiny. Now, I am a solo traveler and I know how tiny single rooms in europe can be. And this was by far the smallest one I have ever stayed in. But to be fair, the Hotel told me that the room was quite small when I made my reservation inquiry.

Small though it was, they used the space in the room very well. There was a very large double closet with drawers that had room for all my clothes to be unpacked plus storage room for my suitcase. The bathroom was small but the shower was great - nice and hot, with good pressure. They have a nice set up where you can get internet on your TV - 5 euro for 24 hours. Not a bad price at all and it was nice to check my e-mail and such from the comfort of my room.

The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was a little bit stuffy and I asked about air conditioning, which had not yet been turned on for the season. When I asked if they had a fan, they said yes and it was in my room by the time I returned from my sightseeing. In fact, my only real complaint about the hotel would be that the air conditioning wasn't on yet. Rome can get quite warm in May and if you advertise yourself as having air conditioning, you should have air conditioning.

Breakfast was the best of all the hotels I stayed at in Italy - fresh rolls, good cappuccino, juice, fruit and many other options.

I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel Due Torri was our home base during four days in Rome. Our room was tiny, but had a nice balcony overlooking nearby homes and churches. The charming chiming of church bells was heard from our balcony. The staff was very professional and efficient, spoke excellent English, and answered every question. The breakfast was delicious, offering a variety of fruit, sweet rolls, cereals and breads. The cappuccino was wonderful. Located just blocks from Piazza Narvona and the Pantheon, we walked to all the historic sites in Rome. The electric bus route is one block away and you can catch the little bus to St. Peter's Square and other historic sites. There were shops nearby where we purchased wine, bread, cheese and salami for our afternoon snacks. Excellent restaurants were also within easy walking distance. We highly recommend Hotel Due Torri.

After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was disappointed that the smell of the hotel was enough to make us leave moments after checking in. The good news is that the weekend clerk called the manager and said there would be no charge.
There were gnats flying in the air as we walked in through the alley. We checked into the room with our children. Although it was small and worn, it seemed clean. The smell of rotting garbage was too much to take. When we opened the windows for fresh air the gnats from the alley started flying in.
The clerk allowed me to use the phone to find an alternate hotel and we were gone in about 30 minutes.
I was surprised my experience was so different than the others here.

We stayed at the Hotel Due Torri in September 2008 for 2 nights. It is in the middle of the historic district and within walking distance of many restaurants and historic sites. We walked to all the main tourist spots: Vatican (15 min.), Piazza Navona (5 min.), Pantheon (10 min.), Forum & Coliseum (30 min.), Piazza di Spagna (20 min.) The room was small but clean. The bathroom was small but adequate and clean. We had a room on the 5th floor with a terrace and view of the rooftops. The elevator stops at the 4th floor. Easy walk up to the 5th floor. The breakfast was nice and the staff were very helpful.

Living in Italy, we have occasion to come to Rome every so often but we've never found the perfect hotel until now. The Due Torri is not a four or five star but it is very comfortable and friendly. Then regarding location, it's perfect because my wife and I love the Piazza Navona - Pantheon area and the greenery of the River Tiber walks and the Castel Sant'Angelo. The surrounding neighborhood of the hotel is a maze of narrow cobblestoned streets filled with shops, artesan workshops, and tiny trattorias where you can still find excellent Roman cusine.
The Hotel Due Torri is in a building dating from the 16th century. Notwithstanding, it has very nice common areas and a nifty breakfast room. Our room was on the second floor (number 201) which could be easily reached by the elevator or the internal stairway. It was a fairly large room with a very comfortable bed, a dresser, chest, wardrobe and two chairs and a mini bar/safe with a 21 inch flat screen TV on top. The bathroom with tub/shower was also good-sized and relatively new. There was also a small entrance area with another built-in wardrobe. The air conditioning worked fine and could be controlled from the room. However we didn't use it hardly at all because even though it was very hot outside, the room was quite cool. We usually kept the window open (no mosquitos at night!) and were very comfortable. The only window was maybe the negative aspect of the room because it was very old and in dire need of replacement (here a modern double-glazed window would be nice). The view was to the building directly across the alley (about three meters or so) and the windows of that building. Another type of guest would not appreciate the noise from the TV of the apartment across the alley, or the metal shutters of the garage and shops opening in the morning and closing at night; voices of people occasionally passing through the alley, the garage dog that barked some times, etc. For us it was all okay because it's what one should expect living in that area. What would Rome be without a little noise? I noted that the rooms on the first floor had maybe been renovated recently. Plus I was told that the fifth floor rooms have balconies and views but are small in size.
Okay, our room cost was 200 euros per night (due to go down to 150 in August I believe). This included a good and very adequate buffet breakfast. I parked our car in the garage (autorimessa) in front of the hotel. It cost me 40 euros a night but leaving a nice car out on the street is not a good idea. The hotel is dog friendly so we were able to keep our little dog in our room and there was no problem walking him in the neighboring streets or along the Tiber (with clean-up bags of course). I should mention that the streets are not super clean in that area! Some trip advisor members staying here have mentioned being afraid at night because of dark streets, but aside from an occasional harmless bum or homeless person or group of drunk tourists wandering around, the area seemed to be perfectly safe even late at night.
The hotel owner and staff were all very nice and friendly. I would cite specifically the lady in the breakfast room and the gentleman at the front desk as being great!
I think we'll return to the Due Torri for our next visit to Rome.
