My husband & I stayed at Hotel Grifo at the end of Jan 2009. We had the most incredible stay. Rosa and the other reception staff where fantastic and gave us some excellent advice that made our adventures in Rome all that more memorable.

My party booked a 4 person room with terrace. Room was clean and terrace appealing. Particularly pleasing was the location in a central and attractive district, but quiet at night. So no problem with the late night Roman noise which one reads about.
Made very welcome by reception staff, with helpful advice re local restaurants etc. Able to leave bags pre/post checkout. Good value. Reception staff very happy to speak English in response to faltering Italian.

This hotel needs a little sprucing up. The rooms are small, and the walls are all stained. The cupboards in the rooms have peeling contact paper. The bathrooms also leave much to be desired, you have to push the button on the toilet about 20 times to build up pressure to flush. The tv in the room also did not work for the entire 3 days of the stay. I repeated told the staff but they did nothing.

Great little budget hotel. We booked a triple which was a nice size and clean.

The hotel is very basic, so dont expect bell boys, etc.. The guy at reception is super friendly and full of soo much good advice. You are 10/15 mins walk from main train station, but just 5/10 to the Colosseum or Piazza Venezia. The location is excellent, in a typical quiet Roman district!

At the right price, this is a bargain and would book here again, no doubts!!
