“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Stayed for 2 nights Sept 16 &17, 2012.Great location for walking and sightseeing. close to the Colesseum. Rooms were basic but very clean. Hotel staff were very helpful, gave us a great tip on a lookout over the city. Amazing. The rooftop terrace was a great place to enjoy some wine while we relaxed from our day of sightseeing.

I just had the pleasure of spending a total of 5 nights at hotel grifo. I must say that this has been one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. The staff at grifo exudes class, they are true professionals.

The rooms were always kept clean and the breakfast was more than enough to get your day started. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Colosseum and Forum, most importantly it is located a few minutes from Cavour metro station. Once you have metro access you can pretty much get to anywhere in rome. Rosa, Alessandro, and Louigie were always very helpful and attentive to our needs.

I highly recommend hotel grifo and would give it 10 stars if I could. With me and my family, hotel grifo has clients forever.

Great Location close to the train station. Great staff. Clean, quirky, old and charming. Staff recommended area restaurants, bars that were operated by locals. Nearby Piazza was a hit with our group. We stayed here on our last night in Rome before heading back to the US. The staff arranged for a car to the airport for the next morning which arrived on time and was reasonably priced (and very quick).

This place is in fantastic location. It is brilliant value for money. Yes the rooms are basic but have quirky charm. I would recommend paying few extra euros for access to private rooftop terrace that room 42 and 41 share as this has great views. The hotel staff are very friendly and make great restaurant recommendations . Would definitely stay here again.

Loved this hotel, we booked the room with a private deck over looking a small inner courtyard just wonderful to share some wine at. Room was small but clean, comfortable and a great location . The best part was the staff always happy to help and great with suggestions especially Marcello. He suggested everything from restaurants, bars, gelato, what bus to take where, train advice, etc. Would stay again.

Room Tip: Room with terrace #25

Our room with a terrace was larger than expected, and we loved the atmosphere of the neighborhood. Handy to Cavour Metra station. Desk staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful in recommending restaurants, and access points for the Forum. The elevator, although small, was a welcome feature (we were on the fifth floor), and the rest of the staff was unfailingly friendly. I would definitely recommend Hotel Grifo.

Room Tip: Splurge for a terrace if you can - a charming place to eat gelato, read, and absorb the neighborhood...

This hotel is ideally situated, surrounded by restaurants, bars and shops and only a short walk from the Forum and the Colosseum. As long as you remember you that that is what you are paying for you won't be too dissappointed with this hotel.
It is on a narrow one way street but the traffic is quiet busy and lower floors experience a lot of noise.
The rooms are small, the shower tiny (don't drop the soap or you'll have to get of of the shower to pick it up) and the storage (2 small bedside drawers and a cupboard in the corner that masqueraded as a wardrobe) was just enough for a 3 to 4 day stay. But the room was functional and cleaned everyday.
Breakfast....very basic (Juice,Tea/Coffee, Croissants, Bread, Ham,Cheese, Jam etc, Oh and yogurt one day out of four).
The Garden Terrace is nothing more than a smoking area up on the roof with views of neighbouring buildings.
Don't book here if you want a hotel with a bar - it does have what looks like a bar on the photos but was just a few bottles on couple of shelves in the breakfast room and was never open and don't book the "Hotel" car to pick you up from the airport. They charged us 105euros return (they just send a taxi) from Fiumicini airport (we could have booked the same on the internet, there are several sites where you can per-book for 80euros)
The reception staff were all very helpful, all spoke good English and other languages.
Can't really say anything bad about this hotel although the photographer the hotel employed to take that pictures shown on the hotel website must have been a magician - for the money it was OK and I would stay here again if I went back to Rome

Room Tip: Ask for a roof terrace room - low floors are noisy
