My husband and I stayed at Hotel Gerber for three nights at the end of September. We found the hotel staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel provided breakfast (e.g., rolls, cereal, fruit...continental style) every morning in their breakfast room.

We found the room very comfortable. We were on the first floor but we were never disturbed by noise in the lobby or from outside the hotel. We were in a quiet neighborhood around the block from a metro station, which was great and easy to use. The only reason we did not rate this hotel a 5 is because the bathroom was a little small. My husband (who is 6'2'') had a little trouble with the shower...I think I spent several minutes laughing (in a loving way, of course) hearing him bang into the sides of the shower as he tried to wash himself. However, at 5'1'', the bathroom was not a problem for me. For those interested, there is a tv and phone available in the room. CNN and BCC are available for catching up late at night with what is going on in the world. However, given the time we were on vacation, it was probably best not to pay attention to the news. We were able to use our IPhone to get wireless internet in the hotel (no charge).

We highly recommend this hotel. Everything was very enjoyable...I think we had the best pillows at Hotel Gerber than at any other hotel we stayed at in Italy.

Dates: 21-24 July
Reviewer: Traveler with family, two boys (13, 11)
Room Size: 1 Quad Room

Location: Very convenient, next to the Lepanto Metro Station. It was only a 1.5 block walk. It is also in a relatively quite area of town about 9-10 blocks from the Vatican. There is a grocery store around the corner where you can pick up snacks and water relatively cheap if bringing a family.

Experience: The room was clean and the air conditioning worked fine. All furniture was in good repair. The windows block out any city noise and the room can be darkened with the curtains closed. The breakfast was good. Shower was a little small.

Cost: Reasonable compared to other comparable hotels and for the time of year.

Hotel Staff: They were all nice and the front desk did a nice job coordinating transportation to and from the airport. They also made a nice recommendation on an Italian resturant around the corner. I believe the owner was Octavius but it was a family run place with great food and a reasonable price (compared to many others). We ate there two nights in a row. Would have made it three, but we were out late sight seeing and didn't make it back.

Overall: I would stay there again and would recommend it to my family and friends, based on my experiences. They also have a nice, small map of Rome helpful for sightseeing.

A wonderful hotel. It was in a more residential area of Rome, but it was very close to a bus and a metro stop. It was clean and the room was fine. We really enjoyed the breakfast and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We would return and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay at a more reasonably price hotel in Rome.

Hotel is okay, little expensive, but Rome is expensive now so relative to other hotels, not bad. Breakfast was fair and rooms have been updated but nothing fancy. Good location, can easily walk to the Vatican and even though we did not utilize it, there is a metro stop close by. Staff was not that friendly, the waiter did not like me ordering a second cappucino and the front desk was not that friendly.
