We spent three nights at Hotel Farnese, which is situated in a lovely, peaceful and safe residential area (close to Le Panto metro). Most of the main sights can be reached within 15/20 minutes walking, including the Spanish Steps, Castel Sant Angelo, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, the Vatican City and St. Peters; the only time we used the metro was to visit the Colloseum and Palatino.
We had a lovely room, beautifully decorated with high ceilings, a large full equipped bathroom and also a balcony just over the reception area, so we could sit out and relax in the February sunshine and watch the Romans go about their daily business!
As soon as we passed through the door, we were personally welcomed by name and from then on looked after with impecable care throughout our stay. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and has many interesting works of art - check out the family tree in the reception and the history of Alessandro Farnese, after whom the hotel is named.
A very good breakfast was served up on the top floor, overlooking the dome of St. Peters -this set us up for the day's sightseeing! We enjoyed our lunchtimes around the Pantheon plaza, (perhaps a little expensive), but we enjoyed just sharing a salad and a plate of anchovies, washed down with a bottle of wine and watching the world go by for a couple of hours - this was most refreshing after all the sightseeing of the morning. Would definitely recommend asking the concierge for advice on eating out in the evening - he suggested a very good local restaurant close to the hotel with excellent food and service - the waiter took pride in translating the blackboard menu to us in great detail and we enjoyed this meal greatly compared to the tourist trap restaurants in the centre.
We would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rome.

During a previous trip to Rome, we had noticed a hotel with the name Farnese in it and when we tried to google it, we came up with the Hotel Farnese . Even though we didn't think it was the hotel we had seen, we decided to go with the Hotel Farnese. It was a wonderful choice. The hotel is in a residential neighborhood, but minutes away from shopping , great restaurants and the center.
There is a metro stop right around the corner.

Originally we had a room on the first floor, but we could hear the desk telephone during the night and we asked to switch to an
upper floor. The staff was most welcoming and helpful and
we loved having breakfast near the rooftop. The bathrooms were
modern and the hotel decor very charming.

We ended our 2+ weeks in Italy with 2 nights at this charming hotel. We were greeted promptly and warmly. We had room 44. It was not huge but was larger than I expected. We even had a small terrace with a table and 2 chairs. I loved the windows with shutters. We were able to keep the windows open at night but the shutters blocked light and sound. Our beds were comfortable and the minibar and safe were welcome additions. The bathroom was immaculate with a large bath/shower combination.

Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely and bright, with many options including bacon and eggs. We had a lovely lemon tart and a pot of tea, with fresh squeezed orange juice. We did not get to enjoy breakfast our second morning, as we had an early flight, but we had a great stay any way.

A very nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff located near the Metro and 15 to 20 minute walk to most Rome attractions. A clean room with large bathroom; robes and large towels provided. A very good breakfast in a sunny rooftop room was a good way to start the day. In-room safe and mini-frig are a plus. There's also a bar near the lobby if you want a glass of wine or beer.
The hotel staff (Allesandra) recommended several excellent restaurants for dinner (a 15 to 20 minute walk). They also arranged a car to take us to the airport - the fifty Euros we spent was well worth it, if only to avoid the subway and train.
We'd go back.

We stayed here for 4 nights for my sons 21st birthday. What a fantastic little hotel. The rooms were very well appointed and individually designed which made it much more homely than the usual hotel chains. Bathrooms were well equipped and spacious. Really nice touches such as turn down service and complimentary hotel slippers. The whole hotel was immaculately clean and very well laid out. Staff could not have been more helpful and spoke very good english.
Breakfast roof terrace has amazing views and good choice for breakfast. The coffee is lovely!
Very convenient location in a really nice neighbourhood which was easy walking distance of all the sights. However, if you prefer to go by metro its right outside and hotel staff will provide tickets for you.
Has a nice little terrace garden where staff will happily provide you with reasonably priced drinks in the evening if you so wish.
All in all we had a fantastic stay and would most definately go back.
