“A nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

It's a residential part of town so nice and quiet. The room is small but adequate. There was a quaint balcony off the room. The elevator is a little dicey. The rooftop terrace where breakfast was served has a lovely view of St Peter's dome. Buffet breakfast was great with scrambled eggs, bacon, proscuitto, ham, salami, cheeses, breads, fruit, squeeze yourself orange juice.
Easy walking distance to some shopping and restaurants. Metro right there. Took it one day to the Coliseum. Otherwise, we walked to Piazza del Popolo, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona. Nice to be off the beaten track.

Room Tip: Room 41 has a nice balcony

Have stayed in Rome many times, but last time I found a hotel that I was really pleased with - the Farnese. Located in the Prati district, it is a nice walk to the Piazza del Popolo and we walked to the Vatican Museum as well - ok if you enjoy walking, we walked everywhere...went as far as the Coliseum. Andrea on reception was exceptional, he was extremely helpful both during our stay and afterwards...I liked it that much I contacted him again to book for our relatives - they loved their stay too. The rooms were lovely, very clean, quiet and we ustilised the car parking area and it was the easiest drive into Rome we have ever done....but not for the fainthearted. The streets around the hotel are tree lined and felt safe enough to walk around. The Farnese is on a corner, it faces a quiet street and on the side is a more "main" street, which I understand you can catch public transport from, although we did not have the need - as I said (even with our 9yo) we enjoyed the walking aspect. Overall, I was very happy with our stay and will stay again. PS. There was alot of shoe shops on the way to the Vatican Museums, so if you like shoes ladies...this might be a good area for you to stay in! :)

The hotel is perfectly located on a quiet street, right next to a metro station and within a walking distance to the Vatican and many other must-see places. The restaurant on a rooftop serves excellent buffet breakfast. The desk staff is nice and helpful.

We stayed at Hotel Farnese in September 2012. The room was nice and the desk staff very helpful. I think my favorite part of the hotel was the rooftop cafe with beautiful views of the domes of Rome. A buffet breakfast is served in the cafe where that included the usual fare plus the freshest tomatoes and cheese I have ever tasted. Extremely helpful staff are waiting to make you fresh cappuccino or espresso. We closed out our days at the cafe too with cafe correcto or a pot of tea. I ordered a pot of tea and was given a plate of delicious cookies too with no extra charge. One suggestion for improvement is to not play Andrea Bocelli (whom I love) all the time. The same album played over and over in the elevator and the cafe.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights at end of September, The hotel was beautiful, very comfortable and had a warm atmosphere. all the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Fantastic location, we walked to the Vatican one day which was pleasant 10 minute walk and used the metro the next to go to the Colosseum, the station for which is two minute walk away. would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to come back and stay again one day! Thank you to all the staff.

Quiet part of Rome within walking distance (20-40 minutes) of many attractions. On subway line for longer trips.

Rooms are a good size by European standards. Beautifully decorated and maintained.
Staff were helpful, polite and willing to make reservations for restaurants and attractions. Rooftop restaurant a nice feature, but only for breakfast. Many better eating places with a 10 minute walk.
Highly recommended if looking for a small 4 star hotel.

The Hotel Farnese in Roma has a good standard with very helpful staff, and with a view of the Vatican from the breakfast floor. It is located a small walk from the Vatican and Piazza del Popolo in opposite directions. As such it is as good starting point for daytrips around Rome.

If you continue from Piazza del Popolo you can easy walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain with a stop at the Hard Rock Café on the way. Another route is a bus to Piazza Venezia and Il Vittoranio. From here you have a great view of Rome and a short walk to the Piazza del Colosseo.

Thus, with Hotel Farnese you get good value for your money while exploring Rome.
